kdl 70r550a lcd panel in stock
I immediately replaced the t-con and mainboard, but the symptoms stayed the same. I later found the t-con board clicking (relays) multiple times after power-up, corresponding to the screen flickering. Disconnecting the LCD ribbon cables stops the clicking from the t-con board. I think this means that there is a short in the LCD panel itself.

One note about black level depth on the KDL-70R550A is that they look jet black on the top and bottom bars in a 16:9 format mode when directly viewed front and center. However colors can be a little more washed out on the picture itself due in part to the anti reflective coating on the screen of the R550A.
Sometimes dark shadow detail could be better in the KDL-70R550A as the screen filter (matte screen) on this TV causes a hazy appearance with some programming on the screen. One quick fix is to turn up the Brightness setting some. This will cause better definition in dark areas but at the expense of less penetrating blacks.
This feature working in conjunction with the 120Hz panel can distort the natural background blur in the picture somewhat in movies or film-based content so use with care. It"s great for sports programming though. Options within the setting are: Clear, Clear Plus, Standard, Smooth, Impulse. We recommend turning it off for movies, and using the Standard or Smooth setting for other programming.
A very good comparison for the KDL-70R550A is Sharp line with which Sony is trying to take some market share. The 70R550A sells for around $2498 putting it very nicely in a value-plus area in the price per square inch category. It has a reasonable feature set to go along with the size and we particularly like the passive 3D. The Sharp LC-70LE757U and Samsung UN65F6400 are good comparisons.
My Sony TV model kdl-70R550A right side of screen dark. I try hdmi input with my DVDs player and after a few minutes when the image appears on screen it turn off by itself. After that I turn the tv on normally but still right side really dark. Now for the last 2 weeks there"s sound but no image. What could be the problem??
Notes, Comments & Additional Information: TorresTVParts recommend ordering by part number whenever possible. Often times there are TV models that use more than one set of parts and/or panels.
There are five greenish tabs on the left side that seem to be glued to the panel. The third one from the top down seemed to be the what with the problem as the screen would go crazy as soon as I applied little pressure on it. The first and second ones from the top down where somewhat sensitive but almost unnoticeable. The two bottom ones did nothing to the screen when I touched them. In addition to the five green tabs, there is a brownish ribbon with a connector on each end which seem to connect the top and bottom. Nothing seem to jabbed when I tapped either end of it.
I wanted to get your thoughts on what the next step should be. Will I have to remove the left tabs? If so, what is the best way to do it? Will have to remove all five tabs plus the brown ribbon? Also should I pull the tabs from the end connected to the front of the LCD panel or from the end that connects on the side, or from both ends?
