The cost to repair your Apple iPhone 3GS screen totally depends on which method you choose to fix it up. Few of the methods are like getting it fixed from authorized Apple service center or getting it fixed by a local repair shop in your area or to do it yourself.

* The 1st option is to go to authorized Apple service center. They will charge a hefty amount on the same, but this will ensure 100% genuine replacement screen with warranty. Means this is the only method to ensure that you will get 100% genuine original screen and will get some limited time warranty on the part.

* The 2nd option is to go to some local mobile repair shop in your area, where you can get your Apple iPhone 3GS repaired for a better price deal but this won"t ensure good quality part and an unreliable warranty. Just make sure that you don"t get fooled by a shop who claims to have a original screen for a higher price. Do you really think he can have tie ups with Apple and get original genuine parts from them? The only way these shops can have a original screen is if they took out the screen from some other phone.

* The 3rd and the best option is to get a high quality replacement LCD Screen with Touch Digitizer for your Apple iPhone 3GS from a reliable online store (like maxbhi.com) and get it fitted from the local repair shop for just 200-300 Rs. This way you will get a good quality display screen with good prices and a reliable warranty. You can even try to do this yourself with the help of youtube videos and phone opening toolkit for Apple iPhone 3GS.

Rumors of a less expensive iPhone, in one form or another, certainly aren"t new. Rumors follow want. We want iPhones. The less expensive iPhones are the more of them we can have, and the more often we can have them. We know that. Analysts know that. And Apple knows it too.

In 2007, the original iPhone was mass-market prohibitively, Ballmer-laugh-inducing-ly expensive. So, Apple and Steve Jobs adjusted the price down. In 2008, Apple changed course, worked out a subsidized model for the iPhone 3G, and the cost of entry became only $199.

In 2009, when Apple introduced the the iPhone 3GS, they kept a lower-capacity version of the iPhone 3G around, and the cost of entry became $99. In 2010, when Apple introduced the iPhone 4, the iPhone 3GS went to $99. And in 2011, when Apple introduced the iPhone 4S, the iPhone 4 became the $99 iPhone, and the iPhone 3GS dropped the on-contract cost of entry to $0. With the 2012 introduction of the iPhone 5, the iPhone 4 has become the $0 iPhone.

It"s not difficult to imagine a second line of thinking at Apple, however, where they also tossed around the idea of a secondary line of iPhones. One where older models weren"t dropped in price, but new models were designed to be less expensive from the start. But if that was ever the case, if Apple ever had such a device in the planning stages, be it since 2010 or even earlier, they haven"t chosen to go that way, or to introduce more than one new iPhone model a year. At least not yet...

Apple would never switch to Intel. Apple would never put video on an iPod. Apple would never use the name iPhone 5. Apple would never release an iPad mini. Apple would never change the iPhone"s aspect ratio. Apple would never release two iPads in a year. But Steve Jobs said... But Tim Cook said... But Phil Schiller said...

Whether or not Apple is likely to do something, however, for what reasons, and under what market conditions, are much tougher but ultimately more important questions to consider.

The easiest way to lower costs is to make something cheap. Cheap components, cheaply assembled, cheaply packaged, with cheap software and services, and cheap support, sold at razor-thin margins, results in a really cheap price tag. Nothing exemplifies this better than the netbooks of the last decade. Sold at unprecedentedly low price points, they ultimate pleased almost no one, not the customers who bought and suffered through trying to use them, nor the manufacturers who saw their profitability vanish and their market get trashed. They pleased no one but the people for whom price is the only important feature, the kind of customers with no brand loyalty, who break companies and entire industries, if those companies and industries are foolish enough to cater to them.

The harder way to lower costs is to make something transformative. Instead of a netbook, Apple released the MacBook Air, ultimately providing greater value at a consistent price point, rather than less value at a lower price point. Apple also released the iPad, which ditched the keyboard and trackpad but added multitouch to the mix, kept production values high, and still started at half the price of the lowest end MacBook.

With the iPod shuffle and the Mac mini, Apple removed the screen but kept their amazingly high manufacturing standards in place. Both are great products, just not expensive ones relative to the rest of the line. The second Apple TV was much less expensive than the first because it was smaller, used iOS rather than Mac components, and was built to stream rather than store huge amounts of content. The current line of MacBook Airs brought MacBook Pro quality components to a lower price point at the cost of performance and ports. Even with the iPod mini/nano and the iPad mini, Apple introduced slightly lower priced versions of popular products by reducing size rather than build quality.

Apple may not know how to (i.e. be willing to) make cheap products, but over the last decade they"ve proven they can continuously introduce less expensive ones when and as they choose.

While Apple has released lower-cost versions of the iPod, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac, they"ve never released a lower-cost version of the iPhone. Apple has dropped the price of the original iPhone, and they"ve arranged for carriers to subsidize the vast majority of the cost of every iPhone that"s followed. The original iPhone was introduced at $499 for the 4GB model and $599 for the 8GB model. Today, a new, off-contract iPhone 5 costs $649 for 16GB, $749 for 32GB, and $849 for 64GB.

Apple"s current strategy of keeping previous generation iPhones around at lower, subsidized price points absolutely creates the perception of a cheap iPhone on-contract and in established markets. But it does little or nothing to address a lower cost, off-contract iPhone, especially in emerging markets, the ones dominated by cheap Android phones, outdated BlackBerries, and the remnants of Symbian — the ones responsible for some part, even a large part, of those platforms" market shares.

Apple kept the iPhone 3GS on the market from when it was introduced in June of 2009 to when it was put to rest in September 2012. That worked out to one year starting at $299 on contract, $650 off-contract, a second year at $99 and $550 respectively, and a third and final year at $0 and $450. Just before it went end-of-life, and just before the iPhone 5 was announced, there were rumors that the iPhone 3GS might be kept around for yet another year — it was binary compatible with iOS 6, after all, even if nowhere near feature-complete. Since there was no way Apple could further drop the price without paying people to take it — -$100 if you sign up now! — speculation was Apple could instead drop the off-contract price further, perhaps to $350, and make a run at Android and BlackBerry in those emerging markets.

To sell an iPhone 3GS into 2013, as hardware limited as it is, and at a price point where even mind-boggling economies of scale wouldn"t allow for Apple level margins, was likely a non-starter.

So the iPhone 3GS was put out to pasture, and the idea of a less expensive iPhone for emerging markets was, at least temporarily, put out the pasture with it.

So, if we assume a less expensive iPhone wouldn"t be old and outdated, or sold at low-or-no margins, then that only leaves a new product sold at acceptable margins. If Apple doesn"t follow the BlackBerry or Android strategy, which isn"t in their DNA, then they"re left to follow the Apple strategy.

Dropping the screen from a less expensive iPhone, the way Apple dropped it from the iPod shuffle and Mac mini could work for a phone-only device, but that would remove the immense platform value — and lock-in — of the App Store, and that seems unlikely.

Reducing something else, the way Apple reduced the size of the iPod mini/nano, or the screen resolution of the iPad mini, seems more likely. An iPhone 3GS but not, perhaps with a non-Retina but still 4-inch display, perhaps offered in colored plastic or even iPod touch-style colored aluminum, without the latest processor, perhaps without LTE, at least initially, or lots of RAM or storage capacity, absent every bell and whistle but keeping every iota of build quality, rounding out the last of the Lightning Connector line, could be a candidate.

If Apple decides they don"t particularly care about emerging markets right now, then if history is any indicator, we can still look forward to a $0 iPhone 4S on-contract, $450 off-contract, whenever the next update cycle rolls around. If, however, Apple does decide to put their foot on the gas and head straight towards a less expensive off-contract iPhone, then history also shows they"re plenty smart enough to do it.

With daily use, your iPhone 3GS may have experienced some damage to its screen. Even so, it is possible to replace the damaged glass easily. Whether you just need a new screen or a digitizer as well, there are many replacement options available.

The job of the digitizer is to make sure that your iPhone 3GS responds to touch pressure on the screen. The digitizer takes your touch and converts it into a digital pulse. If your digitizer is not working properly, you can lose some function of the iPhone.

Finding a replacement for a digitizer should not be difficult. They are usually found in a combo kit with a screen replacement. If your iPhone still responds to touch, you may be able to just replace the glass. Otherwise, you will have to replace the screen and digitizer.

Apple products are designed with certain models in mind. Your phone may look the same as another generation, but you need to find repair parts that match exactly with your Apple product. iPhones can even vary from carrier to carrier, so make sure the parts are compatible with your device. By verifying your information, you can be assured that the replacement part is fully functional with your iPhone This is especially important when replacing the glass on the iPhone 3GS. You want a perfect fit for the home button and camera areas.

To be sure you are making a correct repair, you need to verify the model. There are several versions of the iPhone 3GS. You can check your phone"s generation by flipping over the phone and finding the number on the back case. Apple engraves its device numbers on the back of its products. Once you have the correct information, you can find the repair parts that are functional with your iPhone.

You will need a few tools for the installation, and you might already have them in your home. If not, they can be purchased in a kit. In some cases, the LCD kit may even come with a few tools. It is best to check before you start the installation to see if you will need anything else to complete the job. If you are looking to replace the LCD, make sure you have the following tools.

Apple may ensure availability of 7.85-inch displays for a new, smaller iPad by using the same display technology already found on the iPhone 3GS, according to one new prediction.

John Gruber of Daring Fireball believes that if Apple does produce a so-called "iPad mini" for sale this year, it will use the same display as the iPhone 3GS. That"s because LCD screens are manufactured in large sheets and are then cut to the size needed, allowing the company to more easily produce 7.85-inch displays with a 1,024-by-768-pixel resolution.

"These are displays Apple knows they can produce efficiently and in enormous quantities," Gruber wrote on Wednesday. "All they have to do is cut them into bigger pieces."

The comments came in response to a pair of reports (1, 2) from Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal that indicated Apple is planning to launch a smaller iPad, with a screen sized between 7 and 8 inches, before the end of 2012. Bloomberg"s report cited an anonymous source who indicated the smaller, cheaper iPad will not feature a high-resolution screen like the 9.7-inch Retina display found on Apple"s third-generation iPad.

But by sticking to a resolution of 1,024 by 768, Apple would allow existing applications written for the first-generation iPad and iPad 2 to run natively on the device with no changes necessary. That"s because the rumored 7.85-inch display would pack in the same number of pixels as Apple"s first two iPad models with larger 9.7-inch screens.

The iPhone 3GS features a 3.5-inch display with a resolution of 480 by 320 pixels. That"s the same resolution screen that was found in the preceding models, the iPhone 3G and the first-generation iPhone.

The iPhone 3GS screen technology has a pixel density of 163 per inch, while the new third-generation iPad squeezes 264 pixels-per-inch into its 9.7-inch screen.

Gruber first indicated in April that Apple was "noodling with" ideas and prototypes for a 7.85-inch iPad, though he cautioned at the time that he"s unsure whether such a device would ever actually be released. His most recent comments were made in response to this week"s mainstream media reports.

Here are the prices for Apple’s iPhone 4S. Prices of the cheaper iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 are included for comparison. Most iPhone 4S prices quoted in the article are for an unlocked iPhone 4S, while some iPhone 4S plan prices are included.

The table below compares prices for the Apple iPhone 4S range. The iPhone 4G, iPhone 4GS and iPhone 5 have not been released yet. When these iPhone models are released, I’ll add their prices.

If you’d like to know how to quickly compare iPhone prices across countries, I’ve put together a YouTube video that shows how at the bottom of this article.

Is your iPhone price question already answered? If so please click the “Like”, Tweet or +1 buttons now at the top of article to share it. It helps this article show up ahead of old, outdated information. Thanks! If you’d like to know more, read on.

The iPhone 4S models are available in black and white. Does the iPhone’s color effect the price? No. Unlike the iPhone 4, there’s no difference in price of a black iPhone 4S or white iPhone 4S.

With the release of the new iPhone, Apple have dropped the price of the previous models. Apple still sells new iPhone 3GS (the “cheapest iPhone”) and iPhone4 (now the cheap iphone”) models.

The prices quoted in this article are generally for unlocked iPhones. An unlocked iPhone comes without a SIM, and you can get a prepaid SIM or an account (postpaid) with any cellphone carrier.

You may have noticed that the iPhone prices for the U.S. are much lower than other countries. That’s because right now in America, you can only get an iPhone on a plan with AT & T, Verizon or Sprint. (At least there’s choices besides AT&T, unlike in the past.)

An iPhone plan makes the iPhone’s upfront cost cheaper. The prices quoted here are for the U.S. are on a phone plan or contract, and the prices for the other countries are for unlocked iPhones.

In the U.S., you will be able to buy unlocked iPhone 4S models in November. An unlocked iPhone will be more expensive up front, but you will be able to use it with any cell phone provider, and you won’t need to commit to monthly payments for a fixed period.

When travelling overseas, an unlocked iPhone can be used with a local mobile phone provider’s prepaid SIMs to avoid global roaming charges. This makes for cheaper phone calls.

You can already sign up for an iPhone 4S plan in many countries. iPhone plans in Australia, for example, are available at $48 per month on Virgin, $59 on Optus, $59 per month on Vodafone, and $79 a month on Telstra.

Here’s the iPhone price for France, Italy, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Switzerand & Sweden. Mac Crazy gets visitors from over 150 countries and territories; if your country’s iPhone price isn’t here, let me know and I’ll add it.

You can compare these iPhone prices to the iPhone 4GS prices for Australia, Canada, Germany, the UK, and the United States at the top of this article. There are differences of €50 between European countries for the same iPhone model.

The iPhone 4S hasn’t been released in all countries yet, so I can’t get the iPhone 4S price for these countries yet. In most of the countries with iPhone prices listed here, the iPhone 4GS will be released on 28 October. The exception to this is New Zealand, which has no release date shown at the Apple Store. Perhaps they’re all watching the Rugby World Cup?

I put together the YouTube video below in case you’d like to know how to quickly compare iPhone 4S prices between countries. Tip: To make the video crystal clear, click on “360p” and select “720p” HD resolution and click the fullscreen video button.

Thanks for coming to Mac Crazy and reading this article! If it answered your question, please help share it by clicking the Like, Tweet or +1 buttons below. Please leave a comment if you enjoyed this article, or if it didn’t answer your question about iPhone prices.

A friend of mine Jonty sent me this review of the Apple iPhone 3GS from Canada. While we wait for the phone to launch in India, Jonty brings us a short review of the device along with some great pics. Go ahead and read the Apple iPhone 3GS Review – the first on any indian site !

I’ve been a long time cellphone connoisseur, and have used phones from all major platforms such as Blackberry OS, iPhone OS X, S60v3, S60v5, and WM6/6.1. Last week, Apple announced a new iPhone. The question that arose after the keynote was – Should you get it?

The iPhone 3Gs – S for speed is Apple’s newest iteration of the much-sought after iPhone. Externally the two devices are identical, but internally is wherein the differences are more obvious. I’m not going into technical details of the internal hardware but for those interested – you may read all about it at here

Apple quotes “twice the performance” and my, does it live up to that statement. Due to the enhanced hardware, and double the RAM, the phone really does perform speedily, and performs almost ALL tasks faster than the 3G. There is a noticeable performance bump with the 3Gs and you get a sense of it right from the home screen itself. But the updates don’t stop there. One interesting feature of the iPhone 3GS is the new Oleophobicscreen which will not pick up fingerprints easily.

There is a digital compass present now, a 3mp camera (up from 2mp) with continuous AF (comes in very handy!) and video recording. This phone also has now support for MMS (thanks to OS 3.0), and voice command, which is extremely accurate and let’s you control pretty much everything about the phone (native apps only). There’s also an updated 3G radio which supports speeds up to 7.2mbps. A good selection of countries don’t have this HSPA but my carrier, Rogers already supports this speed, so using iPhone 3GS over 3G is more than just pleasant – it’s extremely fast! This isn’t just attributed to the fast 3G network, but overall just a fast phone. All in all, a much needed upgrade.

This is a great feature present only in the 3GS and is damn accurate in detecting voice commands. You can call contacts , play music by just using your voice  ! how cool does that sound ?

The 3.2 megapixel camera with continuous Auto-Focus and Video Recording. The last captured photo thumbnail is nicely present in the bottom-left corner. You can focus by tapping on the screen. Toggling between Video and Image mode is possible via the slider at the bottom-right corner.

You can easily share your photos via Email or MMS.  MMS is something which has been there for ages but  has just arrived to iPhone via 3.0 software update and Apple does it with style !

I decided speed and performance were justifiable, and everything else along with the updated OS 3.0 was a bonus. Everything the iPhone lacked, has been rapidly added on, but the competition has been slow to react.

To me, the pro’s outweighed the cons, and the performance increase is tremendous. After using this phone for almost a week, I can say that using a phone with ANY lag will be an automatic no-sale in my eyes.

Please feel free to comment if you have any questions regarding the 3G/3Gs. Leaving you with a few comparison shots of the iPhone 3GS and my Blackberry.

The new Retina Display Apple uses in iPhone 4 was compared against alternative screens used in competing smartphones, and Dr. Raymond Soneira, President of DisplayMate Technologies, has offered additional comments about the display comparison.

The test results, published by PJ Jacobowitz of PC Mag, compared Apple"s iPhone 4 with the Motorola Droid X, HTC Droid Incredible and HTC EVO, looking at brightness, contrast, color depth, and color accuracy. Soneira commented on the lab results, which provide the first technical look at the performance of the iPhone 4 Retina Display.

The brightest display was on the iPhone 4, which at 536 cd/m² was found to be twice as bright as the OLED display of HTC"s Droid Incredible. PC Mag said the Incredible measured a "weak 236 cd/m²," and that, "compared to the iPhone 4"s display, the Droid Incredible is very difficult to view outdoors." Other models tested fell about in the middle.

After the results were published, Soneira added that "the iPhone 4 is 25 percent brighter than the iPhone 3GS, which was the previous record holder, so the iPhone 4 is now the brightness king for smartphones."

Explaining that "the difference between the darkest and brightest points on a display is known as contrast," PC Mag reported that iPhone 4 was just slightly better than the Droid X in terms of contrast radio, achieving 1097 vs 1071 on the Droid X. The HTC EVO "offers a little more than half the contrast of these two, just 649."

The HTC Droid Incredible achieves a much higher contrast ratio due to its OLED screen, so while its "not very bight, it can create extremely dark level of blacks which creates contrast that eclipses all of the competition—it measured a staggering 39,373," PC Mag reported.

Soneira added, "Steve Jobs promised a Retina Display Contrast Ratio of 800 and PC Mag measured 1097, 37 percent more than the Apple advertised spec. That"s very impressive because you seldom ever see manufacturers conservatively understate their specs to that degree - but then see my widely reported (and often misquoted) comments on the iPhone 4 Retina Display, where it falls short on that spec. The iPhone 4 is a tremendous improvement over the iPhone 3GS, which only had a measured Contrast Ratio of 138. But note that the Motorola Droid remains the Contrast Ratio king of mobile LCDs with 1436, which I measured in our own DisplayMate Lab tests."

Soneira also said that, "while the iPhone 4 LCD has a significantly lower Contrast Ratio than OLEDs, which typically have Contrast Ratios of 30,000 or more, it"s not particularly relevant for mobile displays because they are typically viewed under bright ambient lighting, where screen reflections of the surrounding ambient light are much greater than the display"s own internal black level. The Contrast Ratio spec only applies for viewing in the dark. The iPhone 4"s bright screen and low reflectance means that it delivers a much higher real screen image Contrast under typical ambient lighting than OLEDs, which are not as bright and have inherently higher screen reflectance than the iPhones. But in dark ambient lighting the OLEDs deliver outstanding Contrast."

Color depth refers to the resolution of color supported by both the display hardware and the operating system software. Of the screens tested, only iPhone 4 and the Motorola Droid X supply screens capable of 24-bit color (16,777,216 colors, which Apple calls "millions" and which Windows refers to a "true color"); HTC"s hardware on the Incredible and EVO can only display 16-bit color (65,535 colors, which Apple calls "thousands" and which Windows refers to a "high color").

In their bundled software however, only the iPhone 4 actually displays 24-bit color. Android"s photo application is crippled to only support 16-bit color, reducing the Motorola Droid X to the same performance as the Incredible and EVO, expressing color banding and jaggies due to their significantly lower color resolution.

In looking at color accuracy, PC Mag wrote that displays should reproduce "100 percent of the sRGB color gamut; no more, no less. Anything more means that the colors being displayed are oversaturated, or punchy. Anything less means that colors are being understaurated, or blah." It called the test "good measure of color accuracy."

The report said the Droid X screen was closest to the desired baseline of color reproduction, with just 6 percent undersaturation; EVO was also close with 10 percent undersaturation. iPhone 4 was undersaturated by 36 percent, a figure similar to previous test results of the iPhone 3GS, while the Droid Incredible was oversaturated by 37%.

Soneira said "the PC Mag lab test result that really surprised and disappointed me was the small iPhone 4 display color gamut, which is only 64 percent of the industry sRGB/Rec.709 standard color gamut that is necessary to obtain accurate color reproduction for videos and photos. As a result all iPhone 4 images will have colors that are somewhat under-saturated and on the weak side. The same was true for the iPhone 3GS and all previous iPhones and iPods. I was really expecting the iPhone 4 to correct that deficiency and perform as well as the Motorola Droid, an IPS LCD that matches the standard color gamut almost exactly and delivers essentially perfect color accuracy images, as good or better than most HDTVs. So the iPhone 4 is disappointing in color saturation and color accuracy, but is state-of-the-art in pixel resolution and sharpness.

"On the other hand, the PC Mag lab tests found that the HTC Droid Incredible had way too large a color gamut and color saturation, the same as the Nexus One and most OLED displays on many phones. While that often gets an initial "wow" response – even from reviewers who should know better – too much image color and coloration in photos and videos is actually visually worse than too little color. So the iPhone 4"s less than ideal weak color is actually visually better and preferable to all of those OLED displays that have excessive color – unless you prefer gaudy colored images."

A reader added the comment, "the color accuracy (sRGB color gamut) of the iPhone is "undersaturated" simply because higher saturation color filters on LCDs attenuate more light. Therefore, you need a brighter backlight behind a higher color saturation filter (e.g. R, G and/or B) to get the same light out of the front as compared with a lower saturation color filter. Since Apple was already taking a big hit on efficiency of the LCD assembly due to the high-resolution display, there was a trade-off made to use lower saturation color filters in order to obtain reasonable battery life in the device."

PC Mag reported "iPhone 4 has the most well-rounded display of our bunch. It offers a completely 24-bit color experience, the brightest screen, and great contrast (for an LCD.) The iPhone 4 could be even better if didn"t Apple didn"t limit its color accuracy."

It awarded Motorola"s Droid X second place, while noting "the HTC Droid Incredible is the master of contrast, but its 16-bit display, oversaturated colors, and lack of brightness for outdoor viewing might turn some people off. The HTC EVO 4G, meanwhile, didn"t excel at anything."

Soneira said DisplayMate Technologies will be reporting its own intensive lab tests on the iPhone 4 display, "with in-depth evaluations and analysis and some comments on how manufacturers can improve their mobile displays." The company produces display optimization, calibration, evaluation, and diagnostic products for consumers, technicians, and manufacturers, used by hundreds of publications worldwide for editorial reviews for every type of display.

The iPhone 4S (originally styled as iPhone 4 S, retroactively stylized with a lowercase "s" as iPhone 4s as of September 2013)smartphone that was designed and marketed by Apple Inc. It is the fifth generation of the iPhone,iPhone 4 and preceding the iPhone 5. It was announced on October 4, 2011, at Apple"s Cupertino campus, and was the final Apple product announced in the lifetime of former Apple CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs, who died the following day.

Orders could be placed on August 28, 2011, and mainstream availability in retail stores began on October 14, 2011 in the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Japan. Sales peaked over its predecessor with more than a million sales in the first twenty-four hours of order availability and more than four million sales in the first four days of retail availability. Further worldwide rollout, including 22 additional countries on October 28, came during the next several months.

This iPhone was named "4S" where the "S" stood for Siri, intelligent personal assistant that was initially exclusive to the 4S and later included in future Apple products. Retaining most of the external design of the iPhone 4, the 4S hosted major internal upgrades, including an upgrade to the Apple A5 chipset, and an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording. It debuted with iOS 5, the fifth major version of iOS, Apple"s mobile operating system, that introduced features including iCloud, iMessage, Notification Center, Reminders, and Twitter integration.

Reception to the iPhone 4S was favorable. Reviewers noted Siri, the new camera, and processing speeds as significant advantages over the prior model.iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S and replaced with the 8 GB model which was offered free on contract in the United States.

The 4S was officially discontinued on September 9, 2014 following the announcement of the iPhone 6, although production did continue for developing markets until February 17, 2016. During the course of its lifetime, the iPhone 4S was one of the best-selling iPhones ever produced and it is the first iPhone to support five major versions of iOS: iOS 5, iOS 6, iOS 7, iOS 8, and iOS 9 (the iPad 2 was supported from iOS 4 to iOS 9).

As early as May 2011, some leaks had a fairly accurate description of the iPhone 4S including the name "iPhone 4S", the Apple A5 chip, HSDPA,Sprint carrying.

The iPhone 4S was unveiled at Apple"s "Let"s Talk iPhone" event on October 4, 2011, on the Apple Campus in Cupertino, California.Tim Cook gave since the Verizon keynote earlier in the year. Speculation about Apple"s next generation smartphone, including various specifications and a predicted name "iPhone 5", had been widespread in the time preceding its debut.iPhone 4S was announced, it was considered by some media to be a disappointment, due to the expected release of an iPhone 5.

There were no external differences between the iPhone 4 CDMA model and the iPhone 4S, with the exception of a SIM card slot on the iPhone 4S.GSM model and the iPhone 4S exist, as said differences existed between the CDMA and GSM models of the iPhone 4).

On September 10, 2013, the iPhone 4S name was re-stylised as iPhone 4s, using a lower case "s" to reflect the names of the newly announced iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. This was unusual for Apple as an upper case "S" had been used since the introduction of the iPhone 3GS in 2009.

On September 13, 2016, following the release of iOS 10, Apple dropped support for the iPhone 4S, making iOS 9 the last major iOS version available for the device.

The iPhone 4S setup screen – it is the first iPhone that does not need to connect to iTunes in order to be activated because iOS 5 introduces features such as iCloud.

The iPhone 4S, like other iPhones, runs iOS, Apple"s mobile operating system.user interface of iOS is based on the concept of direct manipulation, using multi-touch gestures. Interface control elements consist of sliders, switches, and buttons. The response to user input is immediate and provides a fluid interface.swipe, tap, pinch, and reverse pinch, all of which have specific definitions within the context of the iOS operating system and its multi-touch interface.

Internal accelerometers are used by some applications to respond to shaking the device (one common result is the undo command) or rotating it in three dimensions (one common result is switching from portrait to landscape mode).

It can act as a hotspot, sharing its internet connection over WiFi, Bluetooth, or USB,App Store, a digital application distribution platform for iOS developed and maintained by Apple. The service allows users to browse and download applications from the iTunes Store that were developed with Xcode and the iOS SDK and were published through Apple.

The iPhone 4S can play music, movies, television shows, ebooks, audiobooks, and podcasts and can sort its media library by songs, artists, albums, videos, playlists, genres, composers, podcasts, audiobooks, and compilations. Options are always presented alphabetically, except in playlists, which retain their order from iTunes.landscape mode to access Cover Flow. Like on iTunes, this feature shows the different album covers in a scroll-through its photograph library. Scrolling is achieved by swiping a finger across the screen. Alternatively, headset controls can be used to pause, play, skip, and repeat tracks. On the 4S, the volume can be changed with the included Apple Earphones, and the Voice Control feature can be used to identify a track, play songs in a playlist or by a specific artist, or create a Genius playlist.

The iPhone 4S introduced a new automated voice control system called Siri, natural language. Siri can be accessed by holding down the home button for a short amount of time (compared to using the regular function). An impact of Siri, as shown by Apple video messages, is that it is much easier for people to use device functions while driving, exercising, or when they have their hands full.

On the iPhone 4S, texting can be aided by the voice assistant, which allows speech-to-text.iPhone 4S is supported by iMessage, a specialized instant messaging program and service that allows unlimited texting to other Apple iOS 5 products. This supports the inclusion of media in text messages, integration with the device"s voice-controlled software assistant, and read receipts for sent messages. Input to the computer comes from a keyboard displayed on the multi-touch screen or by voice-to-text by speaking into the microphone. Entered text is supported by predictive and suggestion software as well as a spell-checker, that includes many regional dialects such as Swiss spoken French.

At the announcement, plans were in place for the iPhone 4S to support many languages. Different features have different language requirements, such as keyboards compared to the word predictor and spell-checker, which needs a large dictionary of words. Language support is related to the iOS 5 operating system that the device launched with, although not always. The Siri digital assistant supported French, English, and German at launch.keyboard layouts without having to change physically. The iPhone 4S can display different languages and scripts at the same time.

On September 19, 2012, iOS 6 was released to the iPhone 4S among other compatible iOS devices as an over the air (OTA) upgrade package.Apple Maps, Facebook integration and Passbook, an application that allows users to store their coupons, boarding passes, and tickets digitally.iPad 2, but it still did not run so fast as newer models.

On June 8, 2015, Apple announced at the WWDC that the iPhone 4S would support iOS 9. This makes it the first iPhone to support five major versions of iOS, and the second iOS device to support five major versions (iOS 9 will support the iPad 2 as well, bringing its total up to six major versions of iOS supported). On December 22, 2015, Apple faced a class action lawsuit for crippling the iPhone 4S with the iOS 9 update with slow and buggy software to force users to buy a new iPhone.

On July 22, 2019, Apple released iOS 9.3.6 for the iPhone 4S to fix issues caused by the GPS week number rollover. The issues would impact the accuracy of GPS location and set the device"s date and time to an incorrect value,HTTPS servers and, consequently, Apple"s servers for activation, iCloud and the iTunes and App stores.

The iPhone 4S uses the Apple A5 system-on-chip (SoC), also found in the iPad Mini (1st generation), that incorporates an Imagination Technologies PowerVR SGX543 graphics processing unit (GPU). This GPU features pixel, vertex, and geometry shader hardware supporting OpenGL ES 2.0. The SGX543 is an improved version of the GPU used in the iPhone 4S predecessor, the iPhone 4. The iPhone 4S uses a dual-core model that is integrated with the Apple A5 SoC in the same way as the iPad 2.iPhone 4S has up to seven times faster graphics than the iPhone 4; this was corroborated by Epic Games president Mike Capps.

The iPhone 4S has an improved cellular (GSM) antenna design over the iPhone 4. The new antenna is divided up into two pieces within the stainless steel band that wraps around the sides of the smartphone. Therefore, if the iPhone 4S is gripped in such a way as to attenuate one piece of the cellular antenna, the radio will switch to the other piece that isn"t being gripped.iPhone 4S can support a maximum theoretical download speed of up to 14.4 Mbps with HSDPA+. As a result of an upgraded radio chip inside it, in addition to being a world phone, both GSM and CDMA customers can roam internationally on GSM networks.Bluetooth 4.0.

The camera on the iPhone 4S, also known as an iSight camera, can take 8-megapixel photographs (3,264 by 2,448 pixels) and record 1080p videos at up to 30 frames per second with upgraded quality IR filter, a wider f/2.4 aperture, and Image signal processor (built-in A5).

The built-in gyroscope allows for some image stabilization for the camera while recording video, although it still has room for improvement, since state-of-the-art image stabilization algorithms do not need to use a gyroscope, but use image processing. Other features of the camera are macro (for close up pictures) and faster capture including being able to take its first image in 1.1 seconds and the next half a second later.

There is a line on top of the earpiece of a white iPhone 4S that is the proximity sensor. This is included on the black model as well, but is less visible.

The iPhone 4S features a 3.5 in (89 millimetres) 960 by 640 pixel multitouch Retina display. It has two volume buttons and a ring-silent switch on the left side.headphone jack and a microphone that is used for both noise cancellation during calls and when in speakerphone/FaceTime (video calling) mode. The lock-power button is situated on the top right edge of the device.SIM card slot. The bottom of the device features a speaker output on the right and a microphone input on the left with the Apple proprietary 30-pin dock connector in the center.iPhone 4S supports video out via AirPlay and various Apple A/V cables.motion JPEG (M-JPEG).

In addition to user inputs, the device also has several sensors that give the smartphone information about its orientation and external conditions. These include a three-axis gyroscope, an accelerometer, a proximity sensor, and an ambient light sensor.iPhone 4S claimed to have 200 hours standby time, 8 hours talk time on 3G, 14 hours talk time on 2G, 6 hours 3G browsing, and 9 hours Wi-Fi browsing.

Comparison of the iPhone 4 (GSM) antenna placement (top) with that of the iPhone 4S (bottom). Notice the repositioning of the antennas that forms the perimeter around the smartphone; the iPhone 4 antenna is on the top of it while on the iPhone 4S, the antennas are on the sides. This side antenna placement meant a benefit of cellular signal attenuation and was used in later models such as the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 4S has a stainless steel, dual cellular antenna design, identical to iPhone 4 CDMA. Apple redesigned the antenna in the iPhone 4 CDMA after some original iPhone 4 users reported cellular signal attenuation problems as a result of holding it in certain positions. The improved cellular radio in the smartphone can switch between two antennas, depending on which is sending/receiving the best signal. These two antennas are incorporated into the distinctive stainless steel band that wraps around the sides of the iPhone 4S.cellular and Global Positioning System GPS, with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi reliant on an internal antenna.

The iPhone 4 and 4S were designed by Jonathan Ive. The "4" generation iPhones differ from earlier Apple designs; the bulges of the back panel as well as the band between the front and back are gone and have been replaced with flattened surfaces. The redesign reflects the utilitarianism and uniformity of existing Apple products, such as the iPad and the iMac. The overall dimensions of the iPhone 4S are lower than that of the 3GS.

It is 115 millimetres (4.5 in) high, 59 millimetres (2.3 in) wide, and 9.4 millimetres (0.37 in) deep, compared to the iPhone 3GS, which is 116 millimetres (4.6 in) high, 62 millimetres (2.4 in) wide, and 12 millimetres (0.47 in) deep; making the iPhone 4 and 4S 21.5% thinner than the 3GS. The internal components are situated between two panels of aluminosilicate glass, described by Apple as being "chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic," theoretically allowing it to be more scratch-resistant and durable than the prior models.

Reception to the iPhone 4S was favorable. Reviewers noted Siri, the new camera, and processing speeds as significant advantages over the prior model.Engadget said that the "iPhone 4S does everything better than the iPhone 4, but it simply doesn"t do anything substantially different."Joshua Topolsky of The Verge stated that "if this were to be a car, it would be a Mercedes" and that Siri is "probably one of the most novel applications Apple has ever produced."iPhone 4S. Brian Chen of

Retrevo surveyed more than 1,300 U.S. consumers and reported that 71 percent of all smartphone owners were not disappointed by the new iPhone 4S, but 47 percent or almost a half of current iPhone 4 owners were; 12 percent were hoping for a bigger display, 21 percent wanted a refreshed design, and 29 percent desired 4G.Reuters suggested that the lack of a more radical departure from the iPhone 4 could open new market opportunities for rivals.Gartner believed that Apple no longer had the leading edge and that the 4S would only sell due to brand loyalty, as fans had been expecting an iPhone 5 with a thinner profile, edge-to-edge screen, and stronger features.

Gaming on the iPhone 4S has been likened to the PlayStation Vita,Nintendo 3DS handheld game consoles. Further, the iPhone 4S" ability to process 80 million polygons per secondPlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 home video game consoles that can process 275 million and 500 million polygons per second respectively.

Computer and Video Games"s (CVG) deputy editor Andy Robinson told TechRadar that the "4S is certainly laying down some serious credibility for the iPhone as a core gaming device. Not only is it now pushing out games that simply eclipse the 3DS visually, but features like cloud saving and TV streaming support are really exciting for gamers."iPhone 4S is the voice control features, noting that "one of the features that Nintendogs players loved was the ability to talk to it. There"s no reason why a game like that couldn"t be done on the iPhone 4S, and much more sophisticated given the voice control shown."

An iPhone 4S with a cracked rear cover. The glass rear covers on the iPhone 4S (along with the iPhone 4) were notorious for cracking easily after an accidental fall. A similar design (glass body with stainless-steel frame) was later reused with the introduction of the iPhone X and iPhone 8, although this second iteration of the glass-back design was for wireless charging.

Since the introduction of the iPhone 4S, there have been several issues reported by users on internet forums that have been noted by media organizations such as CNN, Boy Genius Report, The Guardian, and PC World.

Sometimes there is no speaker audio for services such as web radio even though the speaker works fine when used as a telephone. This error may be due to a malfunctioning switch sensing the headphone plug and different handling of this information by different apps.

Bluetooth connectivity and range sometimes poor, deficient, and/or defective. The sound quality on the other end is muffled and/or undiscernible, with reports indicating the iPhone is likely the problem as opposed to the Bluetooth headsets.

The iPhone 4S had an issue where the Wi-Fi toggles would appear greyed out in both Settings and the Control Center, which was mainly caused by thermal shock of the Wi-Fi antenna.

Unlike prior iPhone models, the number of sales of the iPhone 4 had not yet climaxed before the introduction of the 4S. Previous iPhone models were released during or after declining sales figures. In addition, iPhone 4 users had high marks for being satisfied with their smartphones. Upon the announcement of the iPhone 4S, shares of Samsung Electronics, HTC and Nokia gained on Wednesday after the 4S was announced, while Apple stock fell. However, later in the day, Apple shares rebounded ending with a 1% gain.

With the launch of orders, AT&T said that the demand for the iPhone 4S was "extraordinary".Deutsche Telekom said they were "satisfied" with consumer interest. In addition, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint sold-out initial stock by October 8, 2011, and by October 9 there was a 1–2 week estimate on new orders to be filled. On October 20, 2011, AT&T surpassed one million iPhone 4S activations.iPhone 4S had been received within the first 24 hours of it being on sale, beating the 600,000 device record set by the iPhone 4.

On October 17, 2011, Apple had announced that four million units of the iPhone 4S were sold in the first three days of release, and 25 million iOS users had upgraded to the then latest version of iOS, iOS 5, which was released upon the introduction of the iPhone 4S. Phil Schiller, Apple"s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, stated that the "iPhone 4S is off to a great start with more than four million sold in its first weekend—the most ever for a phone and more than double the iPhone 4 launch during its first three days."

iphone 3gs lcd module price in india quotation

The car, telephone, airplane, television, personal computer, camera, and the internet have all dramatically shifted the very structure of modern society, opening up possibilities undreamed of before their creation and dramatically shifting the trajectory of those societies lucky enough to have access.

It has made almost the entirety of the world’s knowledge available at a moments notice, reduced the time it takes to discover news and current events from days or even weeks to mere seconds, facilitated the ever-growing, central role of social media in our everyday lives, and spawned an industry worth $58.7 billion/year that employs 19 million people around the world.

But Apple didn’t start out with a plan to change the foundation of society as we know it. Like most transformational inventions, they started out with a simple problem and set out to fix it.

As you can see, most of the iPhones released in the last 12 years have been discontinued, usually two years after it is released. While you can still purchase most older iPhone models through discount resellers, Apple is still only officially offering these models through their website:

The first iPhone was released in 2007, but the history of the iPhone starts well before then in the development of multiple different projects all wrapped up under the codename Project Purple.

The birth of the revolutionary technology that would eventually power the iPhone didn’t start with a grand vision for reshaping the way we communicate. It started with a plan to fix the most cumbersome parts of a computer: the mouse.

In 2003, Apple started internal experimentation to find a way to replace the mouse with a touchpad that offered much more control and flexibility. Their initial design, a tablet-sized, finger-controlled interface known as the Model 035, allowed users to pinch, scroll, and zoom – all things that were currently unavailable on modern computers.

The iPod was released in 2001 and quickly became not only a consumer favorite (eventually selling nearly 400 million units) but also one of Apple’s major revenue streams.

But even as iPod sales were climbing rapidly, Apple’s executive team knew its days were limited. Customers were carrying around both an iPod and a mobile phone and were convinced that the mobile phones would eventually have the ability to play music, something that would make iPods obsolete.

To keep the company profitable and maintain its position as a market leader in tech innovation, Apple executives knew they needed to come up with the next generation of mobile phones before their competitors did.

Apple’s first step in this direction was to partner with Motorola for the release of the Rokr E1. It was an iTunes compatible mobile phone that allowed consumers to store songs and play them through an iPod-like interface. Unfortunately, it’s significant limitations meant it was never going to redefine the market. It was only able to hold 100 songs, its clunky interface was difficult to navigate, and its slow upload rate was frustrating to use.

In an appearance at the All Things D conference in 2010, Steve Jobs, Apple’s co-founder and CEO at the time, recounted the moment the idea of the iPhone was born.

“I’ll tell you a secret. It began with the tablet. I had this idea about having a glass display, a multi-touch display you could type on with your fingers. I asked our people about it. And six months later, they came back with this amazing display. And I gave it to one of our really brilliant UI guys. He got scrolling working and some other things, and I thought, ‘My God, we can build a phone with this!’ So we put the tablet aside, and we went to work on the iPhone.”

The Apple research and development team dropped all other projects and this new mobile phone, known internally as “Project Purple,” became the top priority.

To avoid their competitors discovering their category-defining innovation, Steve Jobs was adamant that no-one from outside the company could work on Project Purple. He was so concerned about security that even those who were being internally recruited couldn’t be told what they were working on before they joined.

Once a team was chosen, they were split into two separate but closely inte
