Compared to LCD, advantages and disadvantages of OLED are:

  • Advantages of OLED:
  1. Better display effect: OLED displays have higher contrast and wider color gamut, which can show more realistic colors and deeper black.
  2. More energy-efficient: OLED displays can individually drive pixels to emit light, so they do not require a backlight, which is more energy-efficient compared to LCD.
  3. Flexible: OLED displays can be bent, while ordinary LCD screens require more rigid materials to support their structure, which is not easy to bend.
  • Disadvantages of OLED:
  1. Relatively short lifespan: The organic luminescent materials in OLED displays have usage life limitations, which is shorter than ordinary LCD screens' lifespan.
  2.  Poor display uniformity: Since pixels in OLED emit light individually, it may cause significant brightness differences between pixels.
  3. Higher cost: Currently, the production cost of OLED displays is relatively high, which is more expensive than ordinary LCD screens.
