This article is for facility maintenance technicians who service Elkay bottle filler units and need a resource for both how to change an Elkay ezH20 filter in a bottle filler, and how to reset the filter light on their Elkay bottle filler unit after a new filter is installed. This article shares a variety of educational materials related to Elkay ezH20 troubleshooting for filter light errors and reset, including the following:

This filter replacement and reset filter light video is shown on anElkay LZWSSM Surface Mounted Bottle Filling Station. The filter is theElkay Watersentry Plus Filter.

Remove the bottom panel from the unit. You will need a 5/32 bit on your driver to remove the two screws found on the underside of the bottle filler. In the video, we use ourMegaPro Vandal Proof Driver w/Bits.

Older Models:Older Elkay ezH2O bottle fillers will not automatically reset with a new filter installation. Here are step-by-step directions for resetting the filter state on older Elkay bottle filling stations, directly from Elkay.

The display will then scroll through 2 messages: ‘RST FLTR’ (Reset Filter Monitor) and ‘SETTINGS’ (the System Settings Sub Menu). Press the toggle switch once when the message reads ‘RST FLTR’. The display will change again to show ‘FLTR=0’.

Elkay ezH20 Green LightWhen the filter light on your Elkay ezH2O bottle filler is illuminating the green light, then your bottle filler is supplying filtered water from the unit. The green light indicates that the filter has between 100-21% of its filter life left. No action is needed when an Elkay bottle filler filter light is green.

Elkay ezH20 Yellow LightWhen the filter light on your Elkay ezH2O bottle filler is illuminating the yellow light, then your bottle filler is supplying filtered water from the unit. The yellow light indicates that the filter has between 20-1% of its filter life left. When the yellow filter light is present, then the facility maintenance technician should make plans to replace the filter soon by either ordering the replacement filter if a filter is not already in stock at their facility or scheduling a time in the near future to replace the filter if already in stock.

Elkay ezH20 Red LightWhen the filter light on your Elkay ezH2O bottle filler is illuminating the red light, then your bottle filler is not supplying filtered water from the unit. The Elkay filter status red means that the filter inside the units has either used 100% of its life or has been in use for over 12 months and that the unit is no longer providing users with filtered water. When the red filter light is present, then the facility maintenance technician should replace the filter as soon as possible.

Elkay ezH20 Flashing Red Light*Note: this will only occur on P-SKU Elkay units. When the filter light on your Elkay unit is flashing red, then there is an error. Either the filter has been installed backward or there is a problem with the unit’s NFC board or tag on the filter. The suggested action is to remove the filter and reinstall it 180 degrees from the original installation position.

Newer Model Missing or Incompatible Filter Error CodeNewer models like the Enhanced ezH20 bottle fillers, display different error codes when certain items are malfunctioning. The following error code: E013 is displayed when a filter is either missing or incompatible with the unit. When this filter related error code shows, Elkay recommends taking the following courses of action to fix the problem:

Bottle filling stations are sweeping the nation’s schools, gyms, and public spaces as the cool (both literally and figuratively), sustainable way to hydrate. Beyond that, bottle filling stations, such as the Elkay models we’ll discuss in this article, actually improve water quality by removing lead and other contaminants, somethingstandard water fountainscan’t do. This is all thanks to the stations’Elkay EZH20 filters.

But in order to maintain the effectiveness of these machines, theElkay EZH20 filtermust be changed regularly. This process might seem intimidating, especially if you don’t have an on-site facilities team. To ease your worries and show how these filling stations are really the Wall-Es of the water technology world, we’ve put together a step-by-step guide to replacing yourElkay EZH20 filterand keep your bottle filler working at its best.

A common question that arises when it comes to filters is how often a replacement should be installed. Changing the filter is all part of basicElkay EZH20 maintenance.Within the EZH2O family, each filling station has three colored lights that indicate each stage of the filter’s life cycle. Think of each of the indicator lights as your water filter’s traffic light; when the light is green, go right ahead and enjoy your purified water. When the light changes to yellow, the water will still be safe to drink but you should keep in mind that the filter has only 10% life left. Finally, at red, it"s time to pump the brakes and replace the filter.

After you’ve determined a Elkay EZH20 filter replacementis necessary, begin by removing the panel at the base of the fountain, otherwise known as the shroud. This can be done with a manual screwdriver to remove the four flat head screws under the filler that secure the shroud to the base.

NOTE: For bi-level filling stations, such as thisELKAY LZSTL8WSLP,the filter’s position can be slightly different from a single filler station. Both fillers use the same filter but the filter itself can be housed at the base of either cooler. Unless you are certain where the filter is located, you may need to remove both shrouds in order to find it. Once you locate the filter, the process for switching it out is the same as a single filler station.

In order to remove the original Elkay water fountain filter, grab the top of the filter, closest to the filler, and give it a firm twist counterclockwise. This should loosen the filter from the filler and allow you to fully remove it. Remove the filter carefully, as it will likely contain slimy residue. Dispose of the filter appropriately.

With the older filter removed, you’ll now be able to replace the filter with a new one. Nearly all EZH20 models use anElkay51300c replacement filter. The only exception to this is the LMASMB Elkay Battery which uses a 56192C filter. For your convenience, you can buy these filters in single or multipacks, such as those available throughwww.bottlefillingstations.com.

After unpacking the newElkay 51300c replacement Filter, remove the filter’s red top. Make sure to keep the now open portion facing up. Next, take the opened filter and push it up and into the filter housing space where you removed the old filter. Once inside, begin to move the filter into place by twisting it clockwise until the filter is securely fastened. You’ll know the filter is in place when the label is visible, meaning that it faces out as opposed to facing the wall. If this is not the case, turn the filter around 180° so that you are able to see the label.

Note: If you have an older Elkay model, such as theElkayLZS8WSLK,you will likely have to follow up theElkay EZH20 filter replacementprocess by manually resetting both the bottle counter and filter indicator light. This requires that you remove the head panel of the bottle filler (this is the flat, plastic portion directly above the filling area that covers the inside of the filler’s upper portion). Using a manual screwdriver, remove the two screws located on either side of the head panel. Once unfastened, lift panel up to expose the inside of the fountain. There, you should be able to see a small grey box on the right hand side of the filler. On this box, there is a small button. This button is responsible for adjusting the the visual components of the filler such as the bottle counter and filter indicator lights. By pushing the button for two seconds, you’ll notice that the front display will change. When the display reaches “RST FLTR”, push the button again. When you see “FLTR =”, press the button one more time so the display reads “FLTR=0”. This should automatically change the filter indicator light from red to green. Assuming you would also like to reset the bottle counter, press the button down again until the display reads "RST BCNT". Push the button again to display the current bottle count number, for example “BC0007864”, and then depress the button once more to zero-out the bottle counter, resetting it. Your bottle filler is now reset! Just reattach the head panel and screw it back into place.

And that’s all there is to it! YourElkay EZH20 filter replacementis complete. That wasn’t so bad, was it? Now that you’ve changed anElkayfilter once, you’ll complete all futureElkay EZH20 filter replacementswith ease. But, if you do run into any issues withElkay EZH20 maintenance or have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us for any clarification. Happy filtering!

Obviously, it would be difficult for any individual to monitor the purity of the water being delivered from the tap in any given building environment, leading to general unease around tap water consumption, especially for children in public schools.Elkay, a leading US-based manufacturer of bottle filling stations, offers an easy way for public institutions, such as schools, airports and stadiums, to feel confident that the drinking water they offer to patrons, students and attendees is safer for consumption with theirezH2Ofiltered bottle filling stations. ezH2O’s point-of-use filters remove contaminants such as lead in compliance with theNSF/ANSI Standard 53.  With a digital display that monitors the useful life of the filter, prompting it to be changed whenever needed, ezH2O continues to offer easier ways for the public to keep tabs on the water they consume.

You’ve likely seen bottle filling stations on college campuses, in yoga studios and office buildings, where their bright green displays tally up how many plastic containers have been diverted from the waste stream. The technology has been made popular over the past six years, where their efficiency in filling reusable containers reigns supreme to the water fountain. “They save water because when you try to fill water bottles from a drinking fountain, you can’t fill them more than half way and a significant amount of water goes down the drain,” saysJohn Watson, manager of compliance and sustainability at Elkay, where Elkay’s ezH2O filtered bottle filling stations were conceived. “These products fill at 1.1 gallons per minute. Much faster than a water fountain.” Watson’s role includes responsibility for maintaining Elkay’s required product certifications across all product lines.

But Elkay’s ezH2O filtered bottle filling stations don’t just save water and encourage the use of reusable water containers, they also filter lead extremely effectively, as evidenced by their certification to NSF/ANSI 53 requirements. “Our carbon block filters employ a two-step process: mechanical filtration based on particle size and chemical filtration via adsorption,” Watson explains. “This technology is widely accepted as one of the most reliable means for removing lead from water.”

To explain, certification testing qualifies a product’s ability to remove certain contaminants like lead by using test water with high concentrations of the contaminant and then measuring the filter’s ability to remove those contaminants. Elkay’s filters remove over 99% of the lead in water based on certification test results. The testing included both dissolved lead and particulate lead to test both kinds of filtration. Elkay’s filters are third-party certified to comply with NSF/ANSI 53.

Elkay’s water delivery products themselves have been lead-free since 1991. “In the early 1990s, the movement towards lead-free products was spurred primarily by the onset of products needing to be certified toNSF/ANSI 61standards. During that time, Elkay knew that lead-free drinking water products were the safest approach and anything that wasn’t already lead-free was converted to lead-free at that time. Given our vision and commitment to manufacture the safest products possible, we’ve been way ahead of the lead-free curve for decades,” Watson says.

The new bottle filling stations not only filter out lead and other contaminants, they include diagnostics that let staff and guests know, for example, that their filter is about to reach its maximum use point when it needs to be replaced entirely. Additional features allow building maintenance to regulate when the compressor is turned on so that the ezH2O doesn’t run during periods of non-use, explains Watson. Beyond already diverting much plastic waste from landfills and economizing clean, chilled water, these stations also help schools and other public institutions (which could always benefit from a reduction in costs!) lower their energy bill and shrink their carbon footprint.

Advocating for sustainability means establishing infrastructure that is not only green for future generations, but also accessible to everyone, today. Elkay’s filling stations are a great option to provide clean water economically to large student bodies. Their design also makes it easier for wheelchair users or those who are unable to comfortably sip from a typical drinking fountain. When it comes to green or sustainable design and the safety of our waterways, bottle filling stations are a no-brainer. And the more we see of them on our daily commute, the more likely we are to take one more small and mighty step toward a sustainable future.

Another important facet of Q12 is the required use of dovetail construction. This process involves plywood side panels to perfectly interlock with a solid wood face frame through corresponding dovetail grooves. This highly resilient technique that Fabuwood introduced to the market guarantees that Q12 cabinet lines are secure, strong, and long-lasting.

The anti-warp component involves the use of plywood panels comprised of rigid reinforcement beams. By applying the beams with a dovetail construction technique to secure all components, Fabuwood meets this standard ensuring a strong, reliable build that is resistant to distortion.
