I bought this laptop off Akaraah. The 4K panel was damaged in transit to a previous buyer, so had the original 1080p panel back in it. I purchased another 4K panel (a B173ZAN01.0 h/w v2) for a ridiculously cheap price and it came with a cable already attached!! Do NOT pay $160USD for one of these cables or $600USD for the panel both can be had much cheaper if you look around.

I appear to have GSync too. Option is there in Nvidia Control panel, it enables, and I"ve not seen any tearing in the month I"ve had the 4K panel in so have to assume it"s working. 4K runs the 980M"s down into the 30-50fps region fairly often so I thought I would have seen it if it was going to happen.

To calculate the proportionate amount to be reimbursed, the purchase price is put in relation to the actual time of usage as of the date of purchase/delivery and the remaining usual time of usage of 36 months maximum. Furthermore, modifications and deteriorations are taken into account, which cannot be attributed to the customary use of the product as agreed upon.

In case a product by CLEVO Computer shows a defect during the guarantee period or to call the pick-up & return service, please contact our technical support service immediately, indicating your customer details given on the invoice/delivery note:

Note: Please do not send us a product before you contacted CLEVO Computer in writing or by phone in order to ensure the smooth handling of the claim. You are assigned with a reference number (so-called RMA number) for each transaction. Please send us the device in the original packaging, if possible, including all the accessories and parts of the packaging. Use a protective outer packaging, if necessary. If you do not have the original packaging anymore, please provide for adequate protection against transport damages by means of a suitable packaging to avoid claims for damages due to improper packaging. This, however, is not a requirement for the effective exercise of warranty rights.

Please observe the following maintenance and care instructions. The non-compliance as well as repair and attempted repair by persons, who are not part of the technical support team of CLEVO Computer or authorized third parties, may lead to the exclusion of statutory rights in case of defects or guarantee.

Avoid using the product with external components, accessories, and other additional devices, which are incompatible with the product by CLEVO Computer.

Aeration/cooling: The powerful systems of CLEVO notebooks require regular maintenance of the cooling system, as dust settles and may deposit there, depending on the usage. We recommend thorough cleaning at an interval of four months. Opening the maintenance flap - if the product is equipped with such - does not lead to the loss of statutory rights in case of defects or loss of guarantee. Beyond that, the device should be opened only by the CLEVO Computer technical support or by authorized third parties.

Rechargeable battery: Please observe the manufacturer’s instructions regarding the operation and charging of the battery. Do not expose the battery to external heat. We recommend in addition to charge to battery fully and to recharge it only, if the device signals the low battery, usually at a charge level of clearly less than ten percent. Use only the power supply unit provided by CLEVO Computer to charge the battery, as the charging electronics of battery and notebook is matched with the power supply unit. If you use the device mostly stationary via the power network, we recommend charging the battery to 80 percent maximum and then storing it in a separate, cool place.

Defective pixels appear on LCD monitors caused by technology or production and cannot be avoided. E.g., a 19 " monitor with a resolution of 1600 × 1200 pixels consists of 5.76 million individual monitor cells controlled by tiny transistors. Given such a gigantic number, it may be possible that one or several cells do not work properly and stay on or off permanently despite the highest quality standards. This results in pixels on the display that are permanently on (white) or off (black).

We took Clevo’s P170EM for a spin last week, equipped with a Radeon HD 7970M and a variety of other high-end options. Today we have our follow up where we use the same core hardware but with NVIDIA’s GTX 680M in place of AMD’s top mobile GPU. Now that we have an apples-to-apples comparison between the two fastest mobile GPUs, who can claim the mobile gaming crown?

For this second installment, we’ve taken some time to run additional gaming tests, we’ve updated the BIOS and rerun battery life numbers, and we take a detour into discussing drivers and GPU utilization figures. Having spent more time using the P170EM, I’ll also try to reevaluate the overall package in light of the above areas to see if I might have been a bit too harsh with my initial assessment. If you need a fast desktop replacement/gaming notebook, is Clevo the way to go?

We’ve covered all of this previously, so we won’t dwell on things too much. Note that this laptop has a matte LCD, but when we first received our sample AVADirect listed a high gamut matte LCD option as a ~$150 upgrade. We’re not sure what panel is used for the standard matte LCD, but it"s a "free" upgrade from the glossy panel at AVADirect so it may not deliver results quite as good as this panel. In a direct price comparison, the difference between the HD 7970M and the GTX 680M is currently $274, so we’re looking at $1975 vs. $2249 for the AMD vs. NVIDIA matchup; that’s a price difference of just under 14%, so ideally you’d want the GTX 680M to be at least 14% faster to warranty the upgrade.

(c). The wireless and LAN modules work out of the box, even for the Killer wireless card. Refer to this document on upgrading firmware and tweaking the wireless card if you have any concerns about reliability.

I was able to install two 1 TB Samsung 960 Evo NVMe SSDs, and I can use either as a boot device. No performance regression(s) or thermal throttling is observed, even under high load. This large notebook has more than adequate space for ambient cooling on both SSDs. Upgrading the two 2.5mm HDDs is also very easy, as both caddies are present. Only the bottom panel is needed to access storage and two of the RAM slots on the system. The other pair of RAM modules are under the keyboard, accompanied by the optional M.2 3042 LTE module and the WLAN adapter.

The stock BIOS issued by Clevo is often trash. I"d strongly recommend upgrading to the Prema Mod BIOS which addresses security updates, performance and firmware bugs very well. If possible, invest in getting your hardware through a Clevo reseller that has a partnership with Prema Mod. Prema also provides firmware updates for the Infineon TPM (on affected models) and Intel"s ME.

It takes several screws for the dual rear panel, one panel dedicated to storage and the other covering the fused heatsink assembly and RAM slots. No special tooling is needed to disassemble the notebook.

If you work with external high refresh monitors, such as the Acer Predator Z35, it might be useful to be able to quickly load up panel settings when needed, as is the case with settings that you"d prefer not stored persistently in an xorg.conf file.

So that when I connect this panel and set it as the only display, I can quickly engage its" highest refresh rate and desired resolution (2560x1080@200Hz) by simply running:

Clevo is one of the first manufacturers to introduce a barebone designed for the Iris Pro. Schenker sells the W740SU in Germany under the name S413 and it can be customized as usual. While the cheapest entry-level configuration featuring Intel"s Core i7-4750HQ, 4 GB of RAM and a 320 GB hard drive costs approximately 1000 Euros (~$1328), lush storage or warranty upgrades quickly boost the price by several hundred Euros. Our exuberantly configured review sample sports 16 GB of working memory, a 256 GB SSD and Windows 8 and adds up to a total price of a steep1400 Euros (~$1859).

It cannot be said that the S413"s looks are dull. The slightly uncommon design, with its wide, centered display hinge, sticks out from the masses of contenders. The rear"s design is just as unusual as it is almost completely covered with a fine-mesh grille. As is typical for Clevo, the barebone comes in a restrained, matte-black color that is likely to look like brushed metal. However, it is a magnesium-aluminum alloy in part (underside and lid) and only simple plastic in other areas.

We have to slightly criticize the distribution of the single ports. Particularly the USB ports are directly beside each other on the casing"s right so that connected devices could occasionally impair the user"s mouse movements. Clevo could certainly have solved this better.

A Full HD resolution and matte screen surface - Schenker, or rather Clevo were not stingy when choosing the 14-inch display. The agreeably high pixel density of 157 dpi ensures a sharp reproduction of pictures and text but also fairly small icons and lettering. However, this should not be a problem for users with good eyesight.

Does it boost or throttle? The cooling has had a decisive influence on whether the power reserves of the fastest high-end CPUs can really be maxed out consistently even before Haswell. Clevo appears to have done its homework here. The device copes with both single and multi-thread benchmarks without ado using its maximum possible clock rate.

The whistling noise is replaced by a rhythmic clacking during load, which could indicate a defect fan bearing. Apart from that, the ascertained noise level of over 46 dB(A) is relatively high but does not seem that loud due to its regularity and the rear-facing vents. Clevo has done a good job considering the computing power and the device"s small size.

With a GeForce GTX 1070 GPU, the Nexoc G734III (based on Clevo"s barebone P670RS-G) joins the Pascal notebooks reviewed by us. Thanks to an Intel Core i7 processor and 32 GB RAM, the performance is high enough for gaming. Many games can be accommodated on the 256 GB SSD and 1 TB HDD. Currently, our test configuration is listed for a price of 2460 Euros (~$2743).

Unfortunately, the system lacks hatches on the underside for easy maintenance. In addition, the battery cannot be removed without tools. You have to remove the bottom panel, which is fixed with 19 screws, for access to the inside.

As already mentioned in the section "case", several screws have to be loosened for maintenance. After removing the bottom panel, you gain access to almost all components. For example, you can easily replace the RAM modules and the Wi-Fi adapter and you can reach the fans for cleaning. Great: a free 2.5-inch bay allows adding a second drive.

The display of the test model stems from LG. The matte LP173WF4-SPD1 panel features Full HD resolution and a 60 Hz refresh rate. In addition, Nvidia"s G-Sync is supported.

As usual for an IPS panel, colors and grayscales are quite good. CalMAN reports DeltaE values of just under 4. These deviations from the ideal can be slightly improved with calibration. After calibration, it is about 2 for the grayscales and just under 3 for the colors.

Since it is an IPS panel, colors and brightness are almost independent of the viewing angle. Use on the lap is possible. However, the maximum opening angle of 120 ° could be slightly bigger.

Apart from small flaws, the Nexoc G734III (Clevo P670RS-G) is indeed convincing. The high-end case scores points with good build quality and relatively low height. Overall, the 17-incher cannot shine with portability, but it is easier to carry around than other high-end laptops. Unfortunately, maintenance hatches are missing, which could make for fast access to the inner components. Meanwhile, we liked the backlit keyboard and the touchpad.

There is also a Clevo 8970M on a blue PCB which is apparently bulletproof but they are harder to get and therefor more expensive. Haven"t tested one of these myself though.
