bmw f850gs tft display supplier
I just got back from a 10 day, 3,000 mile trip from Colorado to Wyoming, Montana and Idaho with my 2019 F850GS. The bike worked great until the last morning while heading home. Leaving town the speed limit jumped to 70 MPH, so I got the bike into sixth gear and engaged the cruise control. After a few seconds it disengaged; when I looked at the TFT the display for the cruise control had disappeared and the gear indicator was showing first gear. The cruise control will not reengage and the gear indicator shows first no matter what gear I am in. Neutral will not display, just 1.
I stopped by the dealer on the way home, but they are so booked up they can"t get to it for a few weeks. Not sure if its a TFT problem or a bad controller box somewhere. Anyone seen this before or have any ideas? Thanks.

BMW Motorrad and Bosch are set to give riders what they want, in a move that the cutting edge German engineering and technology company estimates will lead to a safer and more convenient riding experience. In a survey of 2600 motorcyclists, Bosch found that 90% of riders utilize their mobile devices for planning purposes or as part of wrapping up their ride. But perhaps more surprisingly, a third of riders responded that they use their phones while actually riding.
In general, eight out of 10 of those surveyed were in favor of integrating smartphone and instrument cluster information. To address this desire, some of BMW’s new motorcycles will come with Bosch’s 10.25-inch TFT (thin-film transistor) display with split-screen capabilities. Riders will now be provided with the information they previously had to look to the instrument cluster and their mobile device for, in one location.
The new Bosch display will utilize their smartphone integration system called mySPIN to enable content from motorcycle-centric apps like REVER to display appropriately on one half of the screen, while speed or warning indications will display on the other half.
The content being shown can be regulated by the rider with controls on the handlebar. The screen itself is TFT LCD — this technology improves image quality over the traditional LCD displays. Similar Bosch mySPIN split screens will appear on Ducati and Kawasaki motorcycles, as well, but the display sizes may be smaller.
Eagle, CO (Nov., 16, 2017) — REVER has announced a seamless integration with BMW Motorrad Connected, making BMW the first motorcycle manufacturer to integrate the largest motorcycle community in the world directly into their product.
The BMW Motorrad Connected platform, released this September includes a bike-mounted-TFT display and mobile application. Riders using this platform now have the ability to quickly and wirelessly transfer rides recorded on their BMW directly into their REVER account with the touch of a button. From there, rides can be easily managed, reviewed and shared across social networks.
“REVER is designed to be the hub of a connected-motorcycle experience,” said Mark Roebke, CEO of REVER. “We are very excited that BMW is leading the charge in offering connected solutions that include REVER.”
BMW’s 1254cc horizontally-opposed Boxer engine is quite a feat of engineering, especially when you consider that despite the fact the cylinders stick out as far as they do, GS riders aren’t afraid to go nearly anywhere with it.
This latest version showcases how much BMW continues to innovate with it. With a 102.5mm bore and 76mm stroke, those are some big pistons moving quite a bit.
But the really clever bits are found in the cylinder head, as this is the first of BMW’s Boxer engines to come with ShiftCam technology, or what is more commonly referred to as variable valve timing.
That’s not all. The valves themselves open at slightly different times and not all at once. This helps to swirl the air-fuel mixture for more efficient combustion. BMW says the engine makes 136 hp and 105.5 lb-ft of torque; great numbers in itself, made better knowing how broad the spread of power is thanks to the ShiftCam tech.
The downside here, at least to some, is the sheer size of the big GS. Coming in at 549 lbs on BMW’s scales, the 1250 GS has a standard seat height of 33.5 inches, though that can range anywhere from 31.5 inches to 34.3 inches depending on the suspension package. It’s nearly 87 inches long and 37.5 inches wide. It’s a hefty bike, even though we all know it carries its weight well.
That brings us to theF 850 GS, BMW’s offering in the popular middleweight adventure category. It seems nearly every manufacturer has a motorcycle in this category now, and for good reason–these motorcycles are much more manageable and every bit as capable.
Bluetooth connectivity to your phone and activation via the multi-controller, all seen through the same 6.5-inch TFT display on the 1250 GS (optional).
The 850 Adventure is only $1100 more at $14,445. While more affordable, nobody ever buys a standard BMW. Opt for the fully outfitted Premium Package for an extra $3450, and you’re looking at an 850 GS for more than $17,000.
