Since ultra wide LCD so ubiquitous lately , because it has matured into a totally developed, versatile product that has adapted to several different applications and environments. As you know the applications are constantly diversifying and that we are now seeing bar LCD displays with multi-touch displays, video walls, and interactive. Which aims to offer consumers a more fun, educational and enhanced customer experience that helps drive sales.

As you know the monitor with conventional aspect ratios have limitations, in locations where they’re restricted tall or physical space, like on elevators, buses, or within the transportation and medical markets. However,The bar LCD is relatively new technology allows a resized LCD tube made to suit almost any application, yet it retains all its original performance and feature solution.

Resizing bar LCD consists of LCD disassembly, physically cutting the glass to a replacement size, sealing the sides. The technology also can be utilized in a good range of applications where standard sizes aren’t suitable, generally where there are height or width restrictions. Which use this technology are highly cost-effective solution for these low and medium volume demands. At the same time,the incorporates a sensible auto-scaling function so when users play their original content, the size are automatically modified to suit cutting LCD super-wide resolution.

Spectrum Displays designs, develops and manufactures custom displays to fit our client’s specific application. This includes custom resized LCD’s to full custom photomask displays that can be designed to meet specific application demands where there is not a display size available in the market. Today, we serve markets such as aerospace, transportation / digital signage and medical instrumentation with custom and standard sizes. Spectrum Displays uses fully licensed partners of the resizing process to support manufacturing custom-sized displays. Our partners have years of experience and are market leaders supplying custom displays from 2.4” to 65” custom-sized displays. These displays have been in full production in high volumes, up to several thousand pieces per year, used in severe applications such as railway transportation, medical and aerospace. The resizing technology has proven to be reliable to meet environmental conditions required for critical applications.

Spectrum Displays understands every application is unique, the resizing technology allows for small-volume highly customized AMLCDs to fit into the space between the roof line and the door of a train car as an example. Each train, bus and even the stations have these space limitations where off the shelf displays are too large to fit. To build a fully custom photomask LCD to fit the application require millions of dollars in factory tooling investment and each new display design has exorbitant startup costs to support the custom design and tooling. The only viable way to make a custom single display affordable is to utilize displays that are already made in mass production and resize. These custom displays preserve all of the technical complexity of the original LCD. The resized modules include high resolutions, rich color gamut’s with wide-viewing angles, high-brightness backlighting and a variety of robust packaging options.

The custom resized LCD technology combined with the single board computer as smart display module system is a fully tested deliverable and ready for the deployers application software. These systems include the most modern sophisticated processing power, Ethernet connectivity, solid state memory and fan less enclosures. The complete Smart Display Module (SDM) displays can be manufactured to meet high shock, vibration and environmental standards needed for the application.

Delivering a fully tested display system that is high resolution, wide color gamut gives the deployers a canvas to create virtually any image with their application software. The high-resolution displays are capable of showing any language fonts and/or graphics. The deployers of the SDM systems can create messages to communicate to an international traveler in their native language as an example. In an international airport application, if a known flight is arriving from Tokyo the SDM can be updated in real time to the native language of the arriving flights directing people to customs and immigration or to transportation keeping people moving to the correct destinations. On trains and busses location and destination information is shown also warnings like hold on the vehicle is about to move or stop. May be in the future the SDM and systems will know who is nearby, communicating with your cell phone and displaying specific messages like the location of your rental car pick up or gate changes. The high-resolution displays that are full color are ready for advertisement space. These displays provide large companies an outlet to make ad impressions, getting to people even while on a train or bus.

The ILM-5000-W is a 50.5-inch color TFT LCD display with special aspect ratio 16:2.2 and wide resolution 3840×536. It is designed for high brightness 1000 nits with power efficiency LED backlight. It provides LCD panel with specific aspect ratios and sunlight readable for digital signage, public transportation, exhibition hall, department store, and vending machine.

[Normal]: For 4:3 original source, displays a 4:3 picture in its original size, with side bars to fill the 16:9 screen. For 16:9 original source, displays a 4:3 picture that has been horizontally stretched to 16:9, in 4:3 format.

[14:9]: Displays the 14:9 picture in the correct proportion. As a result, side bars are shown on the screen. ([14:9] is available depending on your region/country.)

To get a clear image under the sunlight, the brightness on the display should be over 700cd/㎡, Because the illumination of ambient daylight is around 30,000㎡(107,600 LUX). It features enhanced high brightness panel (LED backlight) to ensure optimum Readability at extreme environments, and LED Driver to offer the advantages of high uniformity, low EMI noise, Low power consumption, long life and halogen free. The stretched LCD display is a powerful tool for advertising or as an information display that can be with optional single SD card and USB port, ARM based player and single monitor with VGA, DVI, HDMI inputs integrated. ITD stretched bar type LCD display comes with standard 500nits or 1000nits that can be used in indoor/outdoor projects that include, but are not limited to digital signage, restaurant displays, airport terminal signs, public transportation or places that would like to have a special screen for signage displays. The special bar LCD monitor is sturdy and fits well into many applications.

LCD display doesn’t operate the same way as CRT displays , which fires electrons at a glass screen, a LCD display has individual pixels arranged in a rectangular grid. Each pixel has RGB(Red, Green, Blue) sub-pixel that can be turned on or off. When all of a pixel’s sub-pixels are turned off, it appears black. When all the sub-pixels are turned on 100%, it appears white. By adjusting the individual levels of red, green, and blue light, millions of color combinations are possible

The pixels of the LCD screen were made by circuitry and electrodes of the backplane. Each sub-pixel contains a TFT (Thin Film Transistor) element.  These structures are formed by depositing various materials (metals and silicon) on to the glass substrate that will become one part of the complete display “stack,” and then making them through photolithography. The etched pixels by photolith process are the Native Resolution. Actually, all the flat panel displays, LCD, OLED, Plasma etc.) have native resolution which are different from CRT monitors

Although we can define a LCD display with resolution, a Full HD resolution on screen size of a 15” monitor or a 27” monitor will show different. The screen “fineness” is very important for some application, like medical, or even our cell phone. If the display “fineness” is not enough, the display will look “pixelized” which is unable to show details.

But you see other lower resolution available, that is because video cards are doing the trick. A video card can display a lower LCD screen resolution than the LCD’s built-in native resolution. The video cards can combine the pixels and turn a higher resolution into lower resolution, or just use part of the full screen. But video cards can’t do the magic to exceed the native resolution.
