volvo v40 tft display pricelist
The eagerly awaited all-new Volvo V40 has arrived in Australia promising class-leading dynamics and styling, along with state-of-the-art features and the world"s first pedestrian airbag.
The five-door V40 hatch is Volvo’s contender in the premium hatchback class that includes established euro marques such as the Audi A3, BMW 1 Series and the latest-generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class. Top shelf Volkswagen Golf models are in there, too.
However, despite the fact that Volvo is still considered a semi-premium brand in Australia compared with its German rivals, Volvo has priced the V40 range almost line-ball with the all-new A-Class.
The front-wheel drive V40 line-up comprises two diesel (D2 and D4) and two petrol models (T4 and T5), and three trim levels: Kinetic, Luxury and R-Design.
The 132kW/300Nm 2.0-litre five-cylinder petrol T4 Kinetic with Volvo’s six-speed Geartronic auto transmission is priced from $41,990, but can also be specified with the Luxury trim for $45,990.
By comparison, Mercedes-Benz A-Class prices range from the entry-level A180 BlueEfficiency at $35,600 through to the A250 Sport from $49,900 - $90 less than the V40 T5 R-Design.
The Volvo V40 is also the first Volvo car to introduce Electrical Power Assist Steering (EPAS), which better supports the integration of safety systems such as Lane Keeping Aid and Park Assist Pilot.
Volvo has also upgraded its stability and traction control systems, with the V40 gaining a raft of new features such as a roll angle sensor, engine drag control, trailer stability assist and torque vectoring for reduced understeer.
The Volvo V40 offers two world-first safety systems – the Pedestrian Detection System, as well as the state-of-the-art Pedestrian Airbag Technology. The latter operates by using sensors in the front bumper that detect contact between the car and a person.
The V40 is also the first Volvo to feature several upgraded safety systems including the City Safety System, which is now active at speeds up to 50km/h (previously 30km/h).
There’s also Volvo’s new Park Assist Pilot that can detect a parking spot 1.2 times the length of the car, followed by an audible signal before the steering is taken over by the system.
The Driver Alert System is another high-tech safety unit available on the Volvo V40 that integrates several systems including Lane Keeping Aid, Road Side Information and Active High Beam. Active Bending Lights that swivel around bends are standard on Luxury and R-Design variants.
Not surprisingly, the Volvo V40 has already been awarded the top five-star safety rating by ANCAP, and holds the record for the highest overall safety score ever recorded by overseas affiliate Euro NCAP.
The V40 is also the first Volvo to be designed around its ‘Human-centric’ design language; boasting several new innovative features including an eight-inch adaptive digital display and active TFT display. The fully graphic display replaces the traditional instrument cluster and allows drivers to choose between three distinct themes: Elegance, Eco and Performance, which changes the central display from a speed scale to a red-lit tachometer.
Other standard features across the V40 range include a five-inch infotainment display (upgradable to seven-inch), eight-speaker high performance audio system, rear parking sensors, LED daytime running lights, auto lights and wipers, cruise control and City Safety.
Choosing the Luxury specification adds electrically operated front seats, leather trim, leather-wrapped steering wheel with metal inlays, illuminated gearshift knob, active bi-xenon lights, high-performance audio system with seven-inch display, satellite navigation and reversing camera.
There’s also a range of wheel sizes and designs from the 16-inch alloys on the V40 D2 to 17s for the Kinetic and Luxury lines, while the R-Design gets standard 18-inch alloys.
Also available on V40 Luxury and R-Design models is the Driver Support Pack, priced at $5000. This combines four significant driver aid features including BLISS (with Cross Traffic Alert and Closing Vehicle Warning), Adaptive Cruise Control, Driver Alert System and the new Park Assist. Volvo claim the value of this pack is just under $9000.
Volvo Car UK has today announced the pricing of the all-new Volvo V40 R-Design and Volvo V40 Cross Country. Starting from £22,295 and £22,595 respectively, Volvo is now able to offer both a more sports inspired and a more rugged looking take on the V40.
The V40 R-Design has taken cues from its R-Design stable mates in the rest of the range, with a re-profiled front bumper and rear diffuser, five-spoke 17" Ixion wheels, silver matt door mirrors, unique R-Design embossed nubuck upholstery, sports floor mats, sports steering wheel and pedals. In addition to this, as standard, the V40 R-Design benefits from a TFT crystal display screen with unique blue colouring, illuminated gear-knob, unique R-Design aluminium trim and vertical LED day-running lights.
The V40 Cross Country is Volvo"s answer to those customers that want a small 5-door hatchback but with a more "off-road" and rugged look. As standard, the Cross Country SE is offered with autofolding door mirrors with ground lights and black mirror covers, 16" alloy wheels, rain sensor, textile/T-Tec upholstery, tread plates and silver roof rails.
The V40 Cross Country is available from £22,595 for the D2 Cross Country SE, up to the T5 Geartronic Cross Country Lux Nav with All-Wheel Drive, from £33,875.
"With the customizable TFT screen-based instrument cluster, the information display can be adapted to different needs and preferences. The driver can choose between three different themes: Elegance, Eco and Performance"
In the Volvo V40, the driver-centric approach is enhanced with a new, fully graphic instrument cluster that allows the driver to personalise instrument layout and the information provided.
The V40 is available with a new, fully graphic instrument cluster. This active TFT (Thin Film Transistor) crystal display brings the interaction between car and driver into a new dimension.
The instrument cluster expresses emotional functionality, always displaying the most important information in any given situation right in front of the driver.
The Eco theme features green background illumination, designed to create an environmentally inspired look. An Eco meter is displayed on the left. The current and accumulated fuel consumption figures are displayed - and the driver is rewarded with a green light when eco-driving is optimal.
The Performance theme has red background illumination, creating a sporty atmosphere. In the centre a tachometer scale replaces the speed scale displayed in the Elegance and Eco versions. Vehicle speed is shown digitally in the centre of the display. The right display includes a power meter - a gauge that informs the driver how much power is available and how much power is being used at any given moment in time.
In Volvo Sensus, all information is presented on a five-inch or seven-inch colour screen in the upper part of the instrument panel. The integrated screen makes it easy for the driver to keep his or her eyes on the road.
If the customer chooses a multimedia audio system, Volvo Sensus comes upgraded with the larger seven-inch screen that also displays information and images from the navigation system, phone, reversing camera, DVD player, digital TV and so on.
The Bluetooth connection has been upgraded to allow not only hands-free phone conversations but also music streaming from your preferred Bluetooth-enabled portable music player. Volvo is actually the only brand to offer Bluetooth music streaming throughout the entire vehicle range. Integrated navigation with voice commands is available as an option.
The all-new V40 is available with Electronic Climate Control. The system provides automatically controlled interior temperature and ventilation with individual settings for the driver and front seat passenger.
The optional navigation system is integrated into Volvo Sensus. The voice control function allows safe and convenient handsfree use. A new feature is the turn-by-turn guidance, which is presented to the driver in the instrument cluster"s centre dial.
The owner of an all-new Volvo V40 can use a mobile application to stay in touch with the parked car via a smart phone. The mobile application is an extension of Volvo On Call, which originally focused on direct access to a call centre in the event of an accident or other emergency.
Car check. The mobile app performs a "health" check of the car; displaying information about lights, brake fluid level, coolant level, oil level and oil pressure.
"The all-new V40 has the most intuitive driver interface ever in a Volvo. We believe that the ultimate luxury is to own a car that fits you, understands you and evolves together with you. You jump in behind the wheel for the first time. You take a look at the dashboard - and you find everything so functional and obvious that you are ready to take off directly."
"We have focused firmly on creating a solution that is easy to handle and that does not distract the driver from focusing on the road. Volvo is one of the few manufacturers to give the driver access to all infotainment functions via controls in the steering wheel. Our aim is that a high percentage of users will be able to handle these functions without having to use the owner"s manual."
"The new mobile application transforms Volvo On Call from an emergency system into a useful convenience feature. We are convinced that our ambitious plans in this connectivity field will help us attract more and more new customers in the future."
Volvo?s direct rival to the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and BMW 1-Series, the V40 forms the basis for its Cross Country sibling which has been on sale for more than two years in the country. It is a fantastic looking car and in this dazzling red shade ? it attracts eyeballs like Scarlett Johansson would in a big fat Indian wedding. Its charm forces you to stop whatever you?re up to, freeze and give a long gaze while it passes by. But is it all show and no go? We tried to find out.
Volvo India will launch a petrol model of the V40 Cross Country for the Indian market on April 20. This also means the introduction of the AWD, since only one diesel FWD variant is available as of now through the CBU route.
The new petrol variant is expected to be powered by the four-cylinder direct injection turbo petrol engine that produces 245bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. This unit comes mated to an eight-speed Geartronic automatic transmission. The current diesel spec V40 Cross Country comes powered by a 2.0-litre-inline five turbo diesel engine that churns out 148bhp and 350Nm of peak torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels only via a six-speed ‘Powershift’ automatic gearbox.
The Swedish automaker had unveiled the Volvo V40 Cross Country at the Paris Motor Show in 2012. This entry-level compact crossover is the third variant based on the V40 hatchback. Aesthetically, it is a more beefed up version of the regular hatchback. The car rides on 17-inch “Larenta” alloy wheels with brushed-aluminum finish.
The new petrol variant of the V40 is also expected to come loaded with features like front, curtain and knee airbags, ABS+EBD, Traction Control, ESP and City Safety Braking. It will get cruise control, park assist system, and leather seats with ventilation function, panoramic sun roof, rear parking sensors, rear parking cameras and an eight-inch TFT screen based infotainment system that provides the provision to switch between three driving modes – Elegance, Eco and Performance.
The Volvo V40 Cross Country rivals the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1 in the Indian market. We believe that Volvo will price the petrol V40 Cross Country just above the Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom) price tag.
Earlier on, we reported on the imminent arrival of the Volvo XC60 T6 when a brochure detailing the car was revealed online. Now, Volvo Malaysia has officially opened the order books for the car, with prices starting from an introductory RM315,888 (on-the-road without insurance).
Upgrades over the T5 version include 18-inch Pan Alloy rims shod with 235/60 tyres and an eight-inch Adaptive Digital Display. The latter, first featured on the Volvo V40 T5, employs an active Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display unit to project information to the driver. Three themes are available – Elegance, Eco and Performance.
There’s also Driver Alert Control (DAC) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW), as well as Road Sign Information, City Safety, an enhanced version of Volvo’s Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) and Cross Traffic Alert – the latter uses radar sensors at the rear of the car to warn the driver of incoming cars when reversing out into the flow of traffic.
The Volvo XC60 T6 comes with Volvo’s 5+5+5 coverage plan, which translates to a five-year/100,000 km warranty, five years of free service and five years of access to the Volvo On Call roadside assistance programme.
