Update: First and second uses the Singing Machine worked as expected; the kids had a great time with it. The sound quality was definitely adequate. The third time they went to use it... the speakers did not work; they both had stopped working. I connected the singing machine to my TV to troubleshoot the sound; I could hear it through the TV but the music from the CD drowned out the sound coming from the microphones... which defeated the entire purpose of the product! Therefore, the other negative reviews about the speakers arriving faulty or failing after use IS ACCURATE!!! Since mine arrived OK but died after only 2 uses, it"s not worth the gamble. For the price, this machine should be far more reliable!

Portions of Original Review that still stand (if you dare take a chance on buying this): It"s very easy to assemble; 6 SCREWS TOTAL! Two for the base of each speaker and only 2 to join the top, base and stand. Once assembled and placed where you want it there is no need to move it around so, while it is "cheap" plastic it should last a very long time because it"s not something you"re constantly lugging from one place to another. The microphones are not lightweight and feel very good in your hand... Kind of heavy. Even though they are not wireless, there is plenty of cord to move around, if you perform as you sing. The controls are very easy to manage once you know what everything does... And my almost 9 year old granddaughter figured them all out without looking at the manual. Hook up of speakers to the back of machine is idiot proof... As is where to connect to mics. Everything is very clearly labeled. Hooking up to a TV for larger viewing of lyrics is optional, but just as easy.... And the machine comes with the Yellow, White, Red audio, visual cable. So, just assemble in 10 minutes or less... The machine also had an FM radio. Unfortunately, you can"t "karaoke" with the radio... The mics are disabled when you are in radio mode!
