I actually bought a 400GB micro SD card for another purpose, which didn"t pan out, and I"m trying to decide if I want to return the card or use it in my Chromebook. If I decide to keep it I"ll try it in my various Pi models to see if I can verify that bug for myself.

I also have a Note-4 with failing flash memory and a perfectly working screen that I was going to sell on eBay (for parts), but your idea has me intrigued. Finding a board for this specific screen may be a problem, though, and the more universal controller boards are quite large (larger than the Note-4). I"ll look into it when I get some time, but it might be simpler to sell the Note-4 for parts and use the money to get a known compatible screen.
