Corsair recently introduced its new iCUE Elite LCD Display Liquid CPU Coolers. All three of these new coolers, the H100i Elite LCD, H150i Elite LCD, and H170i Elite LCD, are equipped with a 2.1-inch IPS screen that can be adjusted to display PC monitoring statistics (such as CPU temps, coolant temps, fan speeds, and system temperatures), as well as photos and animated GIFs, among other things. These coolers also make use of Corsair"s latest ML RGB Elite Series fans, which provide very effective yet silent cooling. We test the 360mm radiator, version 150i, which is quite powerful in cooling. It is a cooler series that is easy on the eyes and comes with a relatively tool-free installation. The unit will offer good performance, not exceptional as the key for this release are low noise levels. While we cannot recommend it for reasons we"ll explain later, you could even select an optional 0-DBA mode. As long as the coolant stays under 40 Degrees, C the fans do not spin. So without further ado, let"s have a peek at it and head onwards into the review.

The H150i ELITE is among the priciest AIO liquid coolers we’ve tried. So, we just had to see if its price is right for how it performs and what it offers.

Though we understand why it’s a bit on the pricey side since it sports customisable screens on its waterblock/pump unit. Additionally, the company also included their own Corsair iCUE Commander Core – a combination of a lighting controller and fan.

When the cooler arrived in our office, it was packed in a typical-looking cardboard box that sports an all-black theme. It’s a flip-open type so you won’t have a difficult time pulling out the product from it.

The top flip cover has “Super Chilled” written on it, as well as the name of the unit inside. On each side of the box, an image of the cooler is displayed with all of its LEDs shining. Again, you’ll find the product’s name written on the sides.

Together with the cooler, you’ll also find a mounting kit for all current CPU sockets. Then, there are three ML ELITE RGB PWM 120mm fans, fan & radiator mounting screws, and a pre-applied thermal compound.

The screen size is 2.1” while native and max resolutions are both 480 x 480. Its refresh rate is 30Hz and its fans dimensions are 120 x 25mm. Additionally, there are a total of three fans here and the model is the ML ELITE Series.

For those wondering about its peak brightness, it’s 600 Nit while display colours are 16.7M or 8-bit RGB. The technology used for its display is IPS and its surface is a glossy display which is really good.

This is the most important part of our Corsair H150i ELITE LCD CPU Cooler review since we’re discussing its performance. We tested the cooler for over a week and we’ll share our experience when we used it.

The Corsair iCUE app is currently in its fourth version. This universal software suite is where you monitor variables like component temperatures and the fans’ RPM. Also, it’s where you can customise RGB lighting, control fan RPM, and adjust other settings.

When selecting LED control, you can program the H150i ELITE’s RGB lit Corsair logo and ring. There are a lot of colours available and effects include static, blink, colour pulse, colour shift, rainbow, and temperature. If you don’t want any of these, you can switch the effects off instead.

Installing the H150i ELITE was quick and easy since it followed most of the standard AIO installation processes. However, it’s good to note that the chosen orientation will slightly alter the installation process.

Though with huge radiators like those measuring 360 or 420mm, the process can get a bit tricky. But with the help of the H150i’s LCD, things got a lot easier, especially with its square design.

In silent and balanced modes, the pump was completely quiet. Like the three ML RGB ELITE fans, it only made a little noise when we ramped up the system load.

AIO coolers like H150i ELITE cost a lot and are designed for high-end custom PCs. This CPU cooler from Corsair is a well-rounded product with a great design and superior performance.

The H150i ELITE may be expensive, but it’s capable of handling the temperatures of enthusiast-grade processors. Throughout our tests for our Corsair H150i ELITE LCD CPU Cooler review, we didn’t see any issues. It delivered excellent cooling even under heavy loads while operating quietly.

If you need the biggest, most powerful liquid cooling unit, look no further. The Corsair iCUE H150i Elite LCD has a large, 360mm radiator to handle the hottest CPUs and the highest overclock speeds. The Corsair ML RGB Elite fans can adjust to higher or lower levels, according to the moment’s cooling needs.

As far as lighting, the fans’ RGB lighting can also be adjusted with Corsair’s iCUE software, but the unit really raises the bar with the pump’s 2.1-inch IPS LCD display. It has 8-bit color depth for millions of color options. The display can show visual effects, and even GIFs or memes, all at 30fps (and, of course, it can display handy system performance data, like your CPU temperature).

When it comes to liquid CPU coolers, there’s a good reason the Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240 Illusion stands out. It pairs RGB lights with translucent material for maximum visual impact. Imagine a glow stick dancing in the middle of your PC while it’s running, and you’ll have a good idea.

Cooler Master pairs the dual-chamber radiator with two MasterFan MF120 Halo fans (also translucent), which have a total of 24 ARGB LEDs each, and you can customize your look from the included ARGB controller, so you don’t need to have motherboard RGB controls to make use of it.

The Alphacool Eisbaer Aurora offers just about everything you could want in an AIO water cooler. Its 240mm radiator provides powerful cooling, and the two 120mm Aurora Lux Pro fans are capable of 2.0 mmH2O of static pressure and 61.5 CFM of airflow. The biggest way this cooler sets itself apart is that you can open the fluid chamber and refill it, meaning it can have a longer life as part of your rig.

There’s a good amount of RGB lighting on display here as well, although it’s not as flexible as other options on this list. Both fans sport RGB light rings and the pump includes a transparent window with RGB lighting inside.

Several cooler manufacturers have displays, but NZXT’s Kraken Z63 truly stands above the rest. The display contains important information like the CPU and GPU temperatures, but you can also have it display animated GIFs and other things, letting you truly personalize your setup.

The Kraken Z63 isn’t lacking in power, either, as it comes with a powerful pair of 140mm fans and an advanced Asetek water pump. If you like the idea of having a display, but don’t need tons of RGB light flooding your system, this is the one.

The EKWaterBlocks EK-AIO 240 D-RGB cooler is primed and ready to keep the hottest, high-end gaming rig cool. It"s compatible with Intel and AMD setups, and is easy and quick to set up. The Vardar S 120mm fans on this beast can produce 2.89 mmH2O of static pressure and 66 CFM airflow to enable the 240mm radiator to handle whatever your CPU can throw at it.

This was my first liquid CPU cooler purchase and my first PC build in over 10 years. So I wanted to go all out on my build with all the LED bells and whistles (LED Fans, LED Memory, LED on GPU, LED on motherboard, etc.) so after doing some research the iCue software was the most compatible with other manufacturers. I also made sure that I got a case with plenty of ventilation (room for 10 fans).

I never had any trouble with the CPU cooling. Even with gaming and running multiple virtual machines at the same time, my AMD Ryzen 9 5900X never got over 158 degrees Fahrenheit. There is some overclocking of the CPU which is automatically controlled by my motherboard, but nothing hard core. So if you do hard core overclocking, your results may vary. At idle, my CPU temp is around 114F.

The only issues I"ve ever had is with the LCD screen and the LED ring on the pump. Oddly enough, the problems seem to resolve themselves given enough time (either just randomly or through a software/firmware update). Over the past six months I"ve had three unique issues happen with the LCD.

The first was I got a triangle with an exclamation point on the screen within a few weeks of installing. I went through all the troubleshooting steps online and nothing seemed to work (updating the iCue software, firmware updates, disconnecting/re-connecting cables, etc.). I was about to RMA it and then one morning it starting working.

Third issue happened this morning (Nov. 13) with the LCD screen. When I booted up the computer, the images on the LCD screen was jumping. Kind of like the old computer monitors that had a v-sync issue. It only did this for about 20 minutes. I"m assuming it was the cold weather as my home office was cold this morning and after the LCD screen warmed up the image jumping on the LCD cleared up on its own.

Overall, I only give it three stars. The CPU cooling works great. However, having random issues with the LCD that seem to fix themselves on their own is a major turnoff.

Corsair started out in 1994 selling L2 cache modules for OEMs. After Intel integrated the L2 cache into the Pentium Pro CPU lineup, it pivoted to DRAM. Today the company sells a wide variety of components and peripherals, like theCorsair 5000X case andCX750M Power Supply. But cooling has also been a staple of the company"s lineup for a long time, with the Corsair iCUE H100i Elite 240mm AIO Liquid Cooler being the latest model to land on our test bench. Can it tame Intel’s 12900K and earn a spot on our best AIO coolers list? We’ll have to put it through testing to find out. But first here are the specifications, dired from Corsair.

Like most modern mid-sized AIOs, Corsair’s H100i Elite ships in a medium-sized box with molded cardboard and soft plastic coverings of the individual parts for protection.

You won’t need to worry about thermal paste, as it is pre-applied to the CPU block. Press the CPU block against the standoffs, and then use the included thumb screws to secure it.

The iCue software suite is a little bulky, with a 1GB download size (3.5GB after installation), but has a variety of in-depth customization options available. Three preset noise profiles are available, and when customizing noise levels you can change what sensor it responds to – it defaults to the coolant temperature, but you can set it to the CPU Package temperature or a variety of other sensors.

There’s more to a liquid cooler than just the radiator and pump. The fans included have a significant impact on cooling and performance. Included with the H100i Elite are two AF Elite FDB fans, which have a solid black color and run very quietly.

"ll be testing Corsair’s iCUE H100i Elite with Intel"s Core i9-12900K. Due to the increased thermal density of the Intel 7 manufacturing process, as well as changes to core and component layouts, Alder Lake CPUs are more difficult to cool than previous generation CPUs in the most heat-intensive of workloads.

This means that coolers that kept previous generation products like the i9-10900K nice and cool sometimes struggle to keep Intel"s i9-12900K under Tj max–the max temperature before the CPU starts to throttle. Many coolers I’ve tested have failed to keep the i9-12900K under TJ max when power limits are removed in workloads like Cinebench and OCCT.

Note there are many factors other than the CPU cooler that can influence your cooling performance. A system"s motherboard can especially influence this, as there are motherboards on the market with CPU sockets that aren"t up to Intel"s spec, which can cause warping or poor contact with the CPU. The case you use will also influence cooling results.

Tier 1:These coolers are able to keep the i9-12900K below TJ max in most loads, with no power limits enforced. I expect only the best liquid coolers to meet this standard.

Tier 2:These coolers are able to keep the i9-12900K under the TJ max threshold with CPU power limits of 200W enforced. I expect most liquid coolers and the best air coolers to meet this standard.

Cooler Master’s iCUE software has a variety of presets that you can choose, which can impact noise levels and overall cooling performance. During these tests, I ran the cooler using the “Balanced” profile, which is the default setting in Corsair’s iCUE software.

To test the limits of a cooler"s thermal dissipation capabilities, I run two primary stress tests:Cinebench andOCCT each for 10 minutes. While this may be a short amount of time, it is sufficient to push most coolers - air and liquid - to their limits.

While stress testing in Cinebench, I run both with power limits removed and with an enforced 200W CPU power limit. In this test setup using MSI’s Z690 A Pro DDR4 Motherboard and Be Quiet’s Silent Base 802 Computer Case, only the best coolers are able to pass Cinebench testing when power limits are removed.

I don’t test OCCT without power limits because attempting to do so results in CPU package power consumption jumping to over 270W and instantly throttling with even the best AIO coolers. Instead, I test at 200W to give coolers a chance at passing. I also include 140W and 95W results to give data comparable to a lower-end CPU, such as AMD’s Ryzen 5600x or Intel’s i5-12400.

One of today’s modern technological wonders is the flat-panel liquid crystal display (LCD) screen, which is the key component we find inside televisions, computer monitors, smartphones, and an ever-proliferating range of gadgets that display information electronically.What most people don’t realize is how complex and sophisticated the manufacturing process is. The entire world’s supply is made within two time zones in East Asia. Unless, of course, the factory proposed by Foxconn for Wisconsin actually gets built.

Liquid crystal display (LCD) screens are manufactured by assembling a sandwich of two thin sheets of glass.On one of the sheets are transistor “cells” formed by first depositing a layer of indium tin oxide (ITO), an unusual metal alloy that you can actually see through.That’s how you can get electrical signals to the middle of a screen.Then you deposit a layer of silicon, followed by a process that builds millions of precisely shaped transistor parts.This patterning step is repeated to build up tiny little cells, one for each dot (known as a pixel) on the screen.Each step has to be precisely aligned to the previous one within a few microns.Remember, the average human hair is 40 microns in diameter.

For the sake of efficiency, you would like to make as many panels on a sheet as possible, within the practical limitations of how big a sheet you can handle at a time.The first modern LCD Fabs built in the early 1990s made sheets the size of a single notebook computer screen, and the size grew over time. A Gen 5 sheet, from around 2003, is 1100 x 1300 mm, while a Gen 10.5 sheet is 2940 x 3370 mm (9.6 x 11 ft).The sheets of glass are only 0.5 - 0.7 mm thick or sometimes even thinner, so as you can imagine they are extremely fragile and can really only be handled by robots.The Hefei Gen 10.5 fab is designed to produce the panels for either eight 65 inch or six 75 inch TVs on a single mother glass.If you wanted to make 110 inch TVs, you could make two of them at a time.

The fab is enormous, 1.3 km from one end to the other, divided into three large buildings connected by bridges.LCD fabs are multi-story affairs.The main equipment floor is sandwiched between a ground floor that is filled with chemical pipelines, power distribution, and air handling equipment, and a third floor that also has a lot of air handling and other mechanical equipment.The main equipment floor has to provide a very stable environment with no vibrations, so an LCD fab typically uses far more structural steel in its construction than a typical skyscraper.I visited a Gen 5 fab in Taiwan in 2003, and the plant manager there told me they used three times as much structural steel as Taipei 101, which was the world’s tallest building from 2004- 2010.Since the equipment floor is usually one or two stories up, there are large loading docks on the outside of the building.When they bring the manufacturing equipment in, they load it onto a platform and hoist it with a crane on the outside of the building.That’s one way to recognize an LCD fab from the outside – loading docks on high floors that just open to the outdoors.

LCD fabs have to maintain strict standards of cleanliness inside.Any dust particles in the air could cause defects in the finished displays – tiny dark spots or uneven intensities on your screen.That means the air is passed through elaborate filtration systems and pushed downwards from the ceiling constantly.Workers have to wear special clean room protective clothing and scrub before entering to minimize dust particles or other contamination.People are the largest source of particles, from shedding dead skin cells, dust from cosmetic powders, or smoke particles exhaled from the lungs of workers who smoke.Clean rooms are rated by the number of particles per cubic meter of air.A class 100 cleanroom has less than 100 particles less than 0.3 microns in diameter per cubic meter of air, Class 10 has less than 10 particles, and so on. Fab 9 has hundeds of thousands of square meters of Class 100 cleanroom, and many critical areas like photolithography are Class 10.In comparison, the air in Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA is roughly Class 8,000,000, and probably gets substantially worse when an MBTA bus passes through.

Since most display manufacturing has to be done in a cleanroom and handling the glass requires such precision, the factory is heavily automated.As you watch the glass come in, it is placed into giant cassettes by robot handlers, and the cassettes are moved around throughout the factory.At each step, robots lift a piece of glass out of the cassette, and position it for the processing machines.Some of the machines, like the ones that deposit silicon or ITO, orient the glass vertically, and put them inside an enormous vacuum chamber where all the air is first pumped out before they can go to work.And then they somehow manage to deposit micrometer thin layers that are extremely uniform.It is a miracle that any of this stuff actually works.
