ktm tft display navigation in stock
Fancy a super nifty and handy navigation system for your new 2017 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S and/or R? Well, KTM has announced that they’ve released a brand new update for their MY RIDE application which will allow riders to have turn-by-turn navigation shown on their TFT screen display of the bike.
KTM also stated that the update can be installed on any new 2017 models and above which comes ready with their super beautiful TFT screen. The best part of it all that the new navigation update can be installed at no extra charge (provided that you’ve already opted for the MY RIDE application package when you purchased the bike).
So far, the KTM models that have the new TFT screen are the KTM 125 and 390 Duke, 1290 Super Duke R, 1290 Super Adventure S and R, and of course the 790 Duke. So far, the models which are available now in Malaysia are the 390 Duke, 1290 Super Adventure S and R plus the 1290 Super Duke R (Quick note: The navigation can only be displayed on the 1290 Super Adventure models).
Combined with a Bluetooth headset, riders can use the MY RIDE app to its full potential from listening to music, take calls and now, scroll through navigation without an external GPS module or mount your precious smartphones on the handlebar to get where you want to go.
KTM has just released a brand new update to the company’s MY RIDE smartphone app, which enables owners of the 1290 Super Adventure S and R models to benefit from navigation displayed on the TFT dash of their bike. KTM has also stated that the update can be installed on 2017 models that come with the TFT screen (and the best bit), at no extra charge. Nice.
The MY RIDE app is available on both the iTunes and Google Play stores, and will cost you £7.99. The app allows riders to connect their smartphone to any KTM model that features the TFT dash. So, paired with a bluetooth headset or helmet, this means you can enjoy listening to your favourite tunes and also receive calls using the bike’s handlebar-mounted control menu – and now, with the addition of navigation.
As well as displaying a turn-by-turn navigation on the TFT dash, the app also shows the distance to your next turn, the name of the street you’re riding, your arrival time and distance to target on a separate screen next to the speedo. Pretty nifty, right?
KTM MY RIDE: Taking Motorcycle Connectivity Places | KTM’s rider-friendly smartphone integration now adds on-screen navigation feature powered by dedicated KTM MY RIDE app.
KTM’s smartphone connectivity platform, KTM MY RIDE, is available on a large number of KTM street bikes, with the Phone and Music functions and turn-by-turn navigation and route planning, powered by a dedicated app.
Living in a connected world, KTM began introducing the possibility for users to connect their smartphones with the motorcycle in 2017. These features have been carefully designed to be intuitive to use and add to riding enjoyment, rather than distract from the road.
KTM MY RIDE with Music and Phone comes equipped for activation on the KTM 390 Duke, KTM 1290 Super Duke R, KTM 1290 Super Adventure S and KTM 1290 Super Adventure R models.
With a paired Bluetooth helmet headset, this connected function allows a KTM MY RIDE-equipped bike to take control of the smartphone’s music player to listen to while riding. Using the left handlebar-mounted menu switch, the rider can toggle between tracks on a playlist or music archive and control the volume, with the information of the track displayed on the bike’s TFT screen.
Sometimes on a long ride it is important not to miss a call. With the ease of pairing a smartphone to the bike with KTM MY RIDE, this function allows the rider to see the identification of incoming calls on the TFT display and, using the menu switch, accept or decline the call. As a safety measure, accessing the phone’s address book and making outgoing calls is not possible.
New for 2018, turn-by-turn navigation has been introduced for the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S & R, which comes as a standard feature on the bikes. Paired with the new KTM MY RIDE app (available for Android $8.99 and iOS, $7.99), visual guidance is transmitted via Bluetooth to the TFT display to show the pre-planned destination.
To save on mobile data use, maps can be downloaded for offline use; this also helps to create and save pre-planned routes. As KTM knows its Adventure riders like to stray from the beaten path, up to 128 waypoints can be added to a route when planning in order to create truly unique rides.
KTM MY RIDE Navigation is not only exclusive to those with 2018 machines as owners of 2017 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S & R can also benefit by having the cost-free software upgrade installed and activated at an official KTM dealer.
USB PHONE POCKET: No bar-mounted cellphone cradle? No problem. A convenient compartment keeps your smartphone safe on the road. It keeps it charged too, thanks to its integrated USB socket. The optional incoming call and audio functions link the phone to the TFT via Bluetooth, so less time is spend staring at the screen, and more time is spent looking ahead.
DASHBOARD: Taking charge at the helm is an all-new scratch-resistant 7-inch TFT display. Unmatched in terms of graphics and readability, adventurers can access information on the fly, quickly and easily without navigating complex menus. This comes thanks to a 6-way switch cube on the handlebar and the new quick select and favorites buttons. Connectivity is also taken care of by way of KTM MY RIDE, which connects via Bluetooth for turn-by-turn navigation, music, and even answering calls. Still catching glare? The TFT screen is tilt-angle adjustable.
TPMS: A critical part of your adventure ride is, arguably, your tire pressure. Thankfully, the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R is fitted with a TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) which monitors front and rear tire pressure and displays it on the TFT for easy viewing. Should there be any pressure loss, a warning will display on the dash.
ATIR: Failure to indicate is one thing. Forgetting to cancel your tune indicator is another. Thankfully, the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R is fitted with an Automatic Turn Indicator Reset or ATIR. After 10 seconds of movement and 150 meters of riding distance, the turn indicator will reset automatically. A big improvement in terms of safety, as it is now impossible to forget to reset the indicators.
KTM RACE ON: Forget about ignition keys and mechanically locked fuel caps. The KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R is fitted with a state-of-the-art keyless-go system with a unique Anti Relay Attack (ARA) system which reduces the risk of misuse of the keyless system by preventing the ignition from being turned on, without iteration on the key fob itself. Too complicated? The ARA system can be disabled completely in the dashboard menu.
CRUISE CONTROL: The standard cruise control is ultra convenient on long motorway journeys. Switches on the left side of the handlebar and a display in the TFT dashboard allow the rider to intuitively set and change the requested speed, so you"ll arrive where the real fun begins with energy to spare.
KTM MYRIDE: There won"t be any Wi-Fi where you"re going, but with the KTM MY RIDE system, you"ll still have a connection to your smartphone. Syncing via Bluetooth, KTM MY RIDE allows you to access your phone, giving you access to incoming calls, your music library, and turn-by-turn navigation right on your TFT display. For owners of the 2018 390 Duke, 1290 Super Duke R, 1290 Super Adventure S and 1290 Super Adventure R, the MY RIDE app will offer basic phone connectivity as well as music streaming. The app will let you connect your Bluetooth-enabled helmet to your motorcycle and your phone; you’ll be able to manage phone calls and play music through your bike’s hand controls, using the TFT dash to navigate. You cannot make outgoing calls—you can only accept or reject incoming calls.
This is the big deal behind the TFT dash systems that most manufacturers are moving towards. While having a flashy, high-tech speedo and tach doesn’t really do much to move the industry forward, the potential for integration with mobile devices allows manufacturers to add value down the road with very little difficulty.
But wait, there’s more! Along with the phone and music connectivity, owners of the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S and Super Adventure R will also get turn-by-turn navigation functionality. KTM is also offering the app interface as a free upgrade to owners of the 2017 versions of those bikes, which is a good gesture. We’ve seen another Euro manufacturer charging clients for a simple ECU reflash on a superbike, which has to be irritating to the customer after already paying top dollar for the bike only a few months previous …
