dewalt d26960k heat gun kit with lcd display pricelist

This is a decent heat gun, but it"s not as nice as some I"ve used, although it"s cheaper than all the others I"m compare it to. I use it at home, mostly for heat shrink tubing, and window film in the winter. It does the job, but it could be better. It doesn"t get as hot as I expect based on the temperature on the screen. It seems to be about 100-150 degrees cooler than the heat guns I have at work, which are made by Bosch and Steinel. Well, the Bosch one is actually made by Steinel too, but it says Bosch on it. They don"t make that one anymore though. But I need a higher setting on this Dewalt gun to do the same things at the same rate that I do with my Bosch and Steinel guns at work, so the temperature indicator is definitely calibrated differently, and it feels a lot cooler. It doesn"t have presets. Which wouldn"t be a big deal, but it doesn"t always go back to the temperature I had it at after I turn it off. It sometimes does, but it usually doesn"t, and I haven"t figured out why. I guess I just haven"t paid enough attention. But it usually defaults to 150 degrees when I turn it on, and if I hit up or down it goes to 50 degrees above or below where I had it depending on which button I hit. So it doesn"t take long to get back to the temperature I had it at, but it"s kind of a pain. Also, it"s only adjustable in 50 degree increments, which really isn"t that big a deal, but the other guns I use are adjustable in 10 degree increments. I suppose if you were doing some sort of precision work you might need that fine level of adjustment, but I generally don"t.As for positive things, it has a nice long power cord on it, which is good. The kickstand thing works pretty well, and having all the accessories is a plus. The accessories aren"t quite as nice as some, but they"re not bad, and you can always add more. The case has a place for every accessory, which is nice, since it keeps them from floating around in the case. The variable temperature and digital display are nice too, even if the temperature isn"t 100% accurate. It"s at least consistent. All in all, it"s a good gun for the money, and I"d recommend it to people who need a reasonably priced heat gun for general purpose stuff around the house or work. It"s probably better than anything else in this price range. However, if you want a really nice heat gun and have money to burn, I highly recommend the Steinel digital gun like I have at work. But I don"t have $300 laying around at home, so I"m happy enough with this Dewalt gun for personal use.

Heat guns are power tools that emit a stream of superheated air at variable temperatures. These extreme temperatures can go as high as 1,300 degrees F (700 C). But some heat guns can use gas like butane, these are called cordless heat guns or torch blowers

To control the output temperatures and are flow many heat guns will have adjustable fan motors and variable heating elements. These 2 adjustments will set air velocity and different temperatures. Heat guns with high airflow output (greater than approximately 20 cubic feet per minute) are sometimes called heat blowers.

Heat guns can be used for a huge variety of applications, these range from copper and plastic welding, paint drying, paint stripping, carbon fiber wrapping, activating adhesives, softening compounds, window tinting, sticker removal, to touching up shrink-wrap.

For heat guns to be an effective paint stripper, it must produce extremely high temperatures. The side effect of this is the heated stripper is capable of igniting paper, wood, paint, and varnish residue and similar materials. You should practice on a small area to become more familiar with the tool and develop the proper technique. The very real danger of accidental ignition will be greatly reduced.

To work out the proper temperature and technique, the best thing to do is Practice, Practice, Practice. Work on simple stripping or heating projects, preferably outdoors. (let’s not burn the house down) until you get a feel for the work.
