I was glad I was able to find the Touch Screen for my Designer I. I found out the company went out to get parts. I can’t get anyone anymore to work on it for me. Thank you for having this part!

1. What do you ultimately need the sewing machine to do?There’s no point splashing out on a computerised machine with a hundred embroidery stitch options if you are predominantly going to sew curtains.

If you sew with heavyweight fabrics on a regular basis a £100 machine just isn’t going to cut it. If you’re going to sew sports and swimwear, you’ll need a machine with suitable stitches for dealing with stretch fabrics. The finest sewing machines are great, but you do need to consider how you will use one.

Coming in five colours, including a deep grey-blue, the Singer M3500 features 110 stitches for most projects, and can handle basic sewing as well as decorative sewing, and is powerful enough to be used on stiff fabrics, such as denim and wool. (It can be a little less responsive on delicate fabric, such as silk.)

For your money you get a computerised sewing machine with 165 built-in stitches, an easy to use LCD display and an extra wide extension table for quilting. This is one of Brother"s most popular machines and combines an approachable design and use (an automatic needle threader) with some higher-end functions – such as all those pre-loaded stitches and LCD screen.

The only downside I can see is it"s not a great embroidery machine, as some of the alphabet stitches are a little small. But you can"t have everything. While the Brother XR9550 model is available in the US, in the UK look for the Brother HC1850.

The Brother FS100WT electronic sewing and quilting machine has all the features of the Brother FS70WTX (above) as well as an extra 30 stitches. These extra stitches include more decorative stitches for embellishing, including one lettering style to personalise your projects.

It"s not impossible to set the serger up without it. But you need to know the setting and clearance values to set it properly. The 936 has already been replaced and as I understand from the Viking store not made in Sweden any more. The real differences are the LCD screens, the location of the dials, the looks of the machines and of course the AGE of the machines and the price. It"s always easier to get parts for a newer machine and the 936 should come with a DVD. They both do the same overlock stitches. The coverstitch is the main reason you would buy one of these machines. If you AREN"T going to do the cover stitch (the twin needle look) don"t buy one of these because you will pay more money and have more mechanisms to work with. (If you don"t need the coverstitch, look for a Huskylock 910. It"s just like the 936 but without the coverstitch. You still get the beautiful display, the free arm and the lower looper threader.) If you look on eBay under huskylock 1003 and 936 there are two machines you can see. The 1003 is bid up to 305 dollars and has 20 hours more for bidding. The 936 has a buy it now price of 750 dollars or best offer. You could offer them 350 and see if they take it or go up to 500. I paid 1000 new in 2003. Both say 7 day money back guarantee. If you go to a Viking store and see the new one (I forgot what number replaced the 936) the cover stitch is easier to set up on this one. Good luck picking a new serger. You"ll love it! Please follow the steps below:1 Before changing an LCD panel please disconnect the power from your laptop.2 Remove the battery.3 Start by removing 4 rubber screw covers from the bezel.4 Once done remove 4 bezel screws located under the screw covers.5 To remove the bezel pry open the plastic on one side and move through the top toward the other side.6 Next, remove 2 screws attaching the frame to the back cover.7 Remove sets of 3 tiny screws on each side of the LCD panel. 8 Place the LCD panel on the keyboard.9 Gently lift a tape securing video connector and disconnect video cable.10 Disconnect an inverter cable.11 ATTENTION: This is a CCFL screen, it requires an inverter. Newer laptop might use an LED screen which does not use an inverter. LED and CCFL screen are not interchangeable.12 Place a cloth or a paper towel on the keyboard to protect the screen from scratching. Put the new LCD on the keyboard.Remember to be very gentle while reconnecting the cables since all the connectors are extremely fragile. Do not apply too much force. 13 Reconnect the inverter cable of the new screen.14 Reconnect the video cable and secure the connector with the tape.15 Lift the screen up and align it with the frame.16 Remove the protective film.17 Secure the LCD with 3 frame screws on each side.18 Replace the 2 frame screws on the top.19 Go ahead and replace the bezel. Align the bezel at the bottom first and move up to the top.20 Reinstall the 4 bezel screws.21 Replace the screws covers.22 Flip the laptop over and make sure the bottom is snapped in completely. 23 Once you"re done replace the battery.24 Reconnect the power and turn on the laptop. If the start up image appears the screen is installed correctly and you"re done!
