The Samsung Syncmaster 930B is one of the worst monitors I"ve ever used. I bought one to replace my 1993 Dell monitor which was damaged in a recent power surge, but it lasted only four days before I returned it. Here are some of the reasons why:

- Virtually all the documentation provided with the 930B is on the accompanying CD, including the detailed installation guide. However, since I didn"t have another working monitor, when I had some installation problems I couldn"t refer to the guide.

- The monitor control buttons are black, minuscule, labelled with black text on a black background, and are completely counterintuitive. I ended up accidentally hitting "auto-adjust" over and over again, which messed up any manual adjustments I had the unusual good luck to be able to make. The sheer, bitter annoyance of this cannot be overstressed. Whoever designed the controls on the 930B should have his engineering licence revoked.

- The display was distinctly less sharp than that of comparably-priced Acer and Sony LCD monitors. I noticed this at the store, but the sales clerk claimed it was because there were so many monitors running in a small area.

- Online customer support barely exists. Unlike Compaq and ATI/Radeon, Samsung barely has an online customer support centre. If you want help, you have to call them.
