I"ll be blunt, this replacement screen is absolute garbage. I would not recommend if you are going to DIY this yourself because it was a massive headache. I honestly don"t understand why this is Amazon"s Choice and why it was rated highly.

So I reconnected the replacement screen back on and it powered on, but no apple logo. Whatever, so I pressed the power button and it showed image. Then it went black 3 seconds later. I then repeated the reconnection of the cables several times until I gave up.

After giving up, I plugged the original screen to see if the logic board was at fault. What do you know, the damn thing turned on and stayed on. So probably defective replacement screen, so I had a replacement sent again.

Now this was on a Sunday, and it"ll arrive on Monday, which is pretty damn quick, so no arguing against that. So I decided to reconnect the defective replacement screen one last time before calling it nights, and what do you know, it finally turned on and stayed on. Until I increased the brightness and it just straight up would not turn on, but the phone still unlocks. I reconnected the original screen and now that wouldn"t turn on, YET THE PHONE STILL UNLOCKED. Frustrated, I called it a night until the new replacement comes in.

Following the next day, I eagerly got started and just plugged the screen in first before adding the home button and etc... It was dimmed, like looking at the screen at it"s lowest setting outside with the sun shining, except I was inside with the lights off. So I did the usual troubleshooting and finally got it to show image for the first time with no issue for once. But it was still dimmed. So I increased the brightness and what do you know, the damn screen went black but the phone still unlocks.

I started to dig around as to why this was such a issue and found out that the display connector on the replacement screen did not click firmly like the original screen. Probably explains why the pins were pushed in too deep or probably my fault, but either way, even after I made sure the connector clicked and was firmly connected, it still did the same issue. Which also solved another issue, the screen itself are just garbage in general. If the screen works but instantly dies once you increase the brightness, it means they cheaped out on the backlighting of the display because I could not get it to turn on after that.

Overall, after all this frustration, I just gave up and opted for a refund, which will take 7 days after I return two garbage replacement screen. However, the only good thing I"ll say about this product is that it came on time and placed nicely on the front door. Even the replacement screen came within a day of ordering, and that"s on a Sunday. I would have given it a 2 Star if the display at least stayed on with the maximum brightness for a minute or two.

You may be wondering why I never mentioned me ever contacting the seller regarding the issue, well that"s because they did not give me a business email for quick response, just a card asking for 5 stars. So I either respond through Amazon and wait a couple days for a response probably stating that it"s the fault of my phone, have to request for a replacement screen either way with a couple of hours/days waiting for a response or figure it out myself, so I opted to figure it out myself.

Now I was fixing this phone for my little brother to use as a phone so he can contact me and my mom in case we"re late to pick him up, but honestly, even if I kept the screen at the lowest brightness so it would not die, I wouldn"t trust it to reliably work on a day to day basis.
