All of the CarScans manufactured by Innova Pro will work on any OBD2-compliant vehicle, including those using the newer CAN bus. Currently, there is no cut off year for our tools.

The 31003 CarScan is capable of retrieving “Vehicle Information.” Currently, only the 31003, 31403, 31603, and 31703. CarScans incorporates the capability to retrieve and display “Vehicle Information” (the VIN and controller ID numbers) to determine the version of programming in the vehicle’s computer.

The Innova OBD2 cable uses only 14 pins because it is not necessary to use all 16 pins of the vehicle’s Data Link Connector (DLC) to test the OBD2 system. The two missing (unused) pins are designed to test other parts of the vehicle’s system that does not involve the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL).

Innova’s CarScans are designed to retrieve information that is stored in your vehicle’s computer. With the exception of initiating the EVAP system leak test (for vehicles that support this functionality), the tools do not command, control, or otherwise enter information no your vehicle. It is not possible for these tools to damage your vehicle’s electronic system.

IMPORTANT: If it is necessary to drive the vehicle while observing the CarScan’s display (such as when performing a Drive Cycle), ALWAYS have a second person help you. One person should drive while the second person observes the CarScan’s display.

If you have trouble linking the CarScan to a Subaru vehicle, try starting the vehicle first, then connect the CarScan to the vehicle’s DLC with the engine running. If the condition continues, it may be necessary to return the CarScan to Innova for an upgrade. Please contact our technical support staff for further information.

All of Innova Pro CarScans are designed to retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the powertrain control module that turns on the vehicle’s Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL). The powertrain system on OBD2-compliant vehicles is required to follow certain rules. Currently, manufacturers are free to use any methods they wish to implement other systems. The only Innova CarScan that will be compatible to certain ABS and SRS system are 31603 and 31703.

Innova Pro CarScans are designed to work on all OBD2-compliant vehicles. OBD2-compliant means all 1996 and newer cars, light duty trucks/vans and SUVs sold in the United States. Vehicles sold in other countries, although similar, are not configured the same as vehicles sold in the United States, and our tools may not be able to link to them. There are times when our tools will link to vehicles sold outside the United States, but this functionality is not guaranteed.

Every Innova CarScan is ready to be used right out of the package, and is configured with the latest version of the firmware available at the time of manufacture. There is no need to connect it to a PC to upload any data.

Volkswagen has an issue with communication when the vehicle has an aftermarket alarm or radio installed. This issue is not limited to Innova tools only, but occurs with all CarScans that are on the market. Consult your local Volkswagen dealership or Service Center for the proper testing procedures in this case.

Yes. Every CarScan manufactured by Innova Pro is capable of retrieving manufacturer specific codes. The tools will retrieve both Generic (P0, P2, P3, and U0) and Manufacturer Specific (P1, P3, and U1) OBD2 DTCs.

There’re more than 300 procedures to produce TFT LCD. The most advanced LCD, in which the array and cell process are highly automatic. Technically, every step in the process can lead to defects, and most of the defects have been eliminated through the development of TFT LCD technology.

Point defect is a kind of defect that some point on your screen don’t display correctly. There are mainly three situations: the point keeps displaying black or whitewhen the screen is working or the point can only display a single color.

For the first two situations, that’s because the circuit on the TFT and CF controlling that defective pixel point is shorted or broken. While the third situation is caused by damaged color pixel.

You may notice there are some screens have uneven display, which means some white area appears in dark picture or vice versa. We call this ‘mura’, a word originated from Japanese.

Mura is very common but it doesn’t affect the screen function severely, however it still bring bad look. Hence, many high end display manufacturers have their own standards of mura, and the displays without mura are of the best quality.

​We test the individual components for functionality and can locate defective components within very short time. We fix the component assemblies of LEDs and CCFLs, inverters, display controllers and PSUs. In many cases we also use new display controllers or inverters in order to ensure a longer life time of the monitor.

Display brightness gradually decreases or fails completely. We replace CCFL in displays from 8.4"" to 15"" within shortest time. For the future, we are also equipped for the LED backlight technology.

We stock special tubes such as W-, U- or L-shaped tubes. In this way, we are able to replace the backlight tubes for special displays such as the Sharp LQ150X1LGN2.
