I heavily debated for months getting a cheap, Chinese knock off like the ones right here on Amazon you have probably scene with random names like "Chinaface" and "ODRVM" and "Apeman". Those prices ranged from $50-75 then i came across this Hero+ LCD e-commerce packaging one for $158. What is really strange is that this same modeled listed as "WIFI enabled" sell for over $200 and this product new is $300 but i called GoPro directly and they dont even sell it anymore just through Amazon or vendors. So i felt that was a good background for others researching heavily like i did. To the camera:Pros:- inexpensive- waterproof- awesome clear picture- It DOES NOT come with the backdoors - skeleton (for audio), the original waterproof one not touchdscreen and touchscreen for underwater but i called and they sent it to me for free because they don"t sell it anymore. It did come with the waterproof casing (people on here said it didnt though so it could be different)- small and lightweight- reputably USA brand (worst customer service ever though, thats below)Cons - there is actually alot but i would still recommend this camera- Customer Service - after playing around with it today i had a ton of questions, i spent 1 hour, 40 min waiting for customer service to pick up. I had two phones going with different options i selected. I finally spoke to this Indian guy, very tough to understand him, he put me on hold 2-3 times as he didnt know the answers then we got cut out but the line didnt hang up its like he pretended to just not be there. So i hung up and waiting 30 min then i called again. I then spent over 2 hours waiting!! I actually googled "awful GoPro customer service" then a ton of websites popped up of customers recently as of IN THE LAST 24 HOURS saying how awful they are and how long they waited. So i eventually talk to someone then i wanted to plan a call later today as i was busy and i knew i would have time later. So he said he would call in the next 2-3 hours later, he never did.- Camera doesnt include all back doors but i put it in Pros up top as well but i had to call and alot of people have said this product could be used but Amazon saying its new- The camera comes with GoPro quik - which is movies you only can make 60 secs and it selects random footage and pics which i dont like but it did make a cool random 60 sec videos- If you have a mac and use Movies/iMovie you will like it much better than GoPro studio or you can play around with it for a while and end up really liking it but i think Movies on Mac/iMovie is greatSo overall, i tried to include everything i could to help you on your researching journey of GoPro/other action cameras.* I attached two pictures to make it extra helpful for you to see the product**Please click "helpful" to spread this review and it also encourages me to write more reviews :)*** If you have any questions, i would glady help :)

The GoPro HERO+ LCD expands upon the all-in-one design of the HERO model by adding the convenience of a built-in touchscreen LCD. Like the HERO, the HERO+ LCD is waterproof to depths of 131" without requiring a separate housing; simply secure the Touch Backdoor in place for a watertight seal. The camera also sees a boost in its imaging capabilities by offering 1080p video at up to 60 fps and 8MP still photos in single-shot, time-lapse, and 5 fps burst modes. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth lets you connect the camera to the GoPro Smart Remote or to the GoPro App on your mobile device for shot preview, complete camera control, and easy content sharing to social media sites.

In addition to a Touch Backdoor, a Skeleton Backdoor is included for use on dry land, which features cutouts for improved audio capture using the built-in microphone. Also included with the HERO+ LCD are flat and curved adhesive mounts for surfboards, helmets, boats, and other smooth surfaces, as well as a quick release buckle that clips in and out of them. Apart from these, the camera can be used with a range of separately available mounting hardware for adaptation to just about any scenario.

For deeper dives, add on a waterproof case to go down to depths of 196 feet.

The base uses a built-in system of folding fingers to allow for quick mount changes. It has a smaller design that fits easily into a pocket for safe storage. A lens that is 2x more impact resistant than its predecessors adds to the safety. With available mods that transform your camera into the ultimate vlogger setup, the GoPro HERO8 Black is the waterproof sports camera that satisfies all your video and photography needs.

GoPro has introduced the Hero+ LCD camera, sharing many features with the entry-level Hero with the addition of a touchscreen. The Hero+ LCD is waterproof to depths up to 40m/131 ft, and adds both Bluetooth and integrated Wi-F with support for the Android and iOS GoPro App. Videos can be recorded at up to 1080p/60, and 8MP still image capture is offered.

The battery allows for about two hours of recording per charge; microSD cards up to 64GB are supported.

The Hero+ LCD will launch in the United States at retailers and online on June 7 for $299.99 USD. The camera will then go on sale internationally on July 12.

Rugged and waterproof to 131’ (40m), HERO+ LCD also includes advanced features like HiLight Tagging and in-camera video trimming to make it easier to identify and share your favorite moments. The HD HERO also offered an expansion port on the camera"s rear panel, branded the HERO Bus. Optional accessories included the LCD Bakpac, which offered a small monitor that displayed and played back video, and the Battery Bakpac, which doubled the battery life of the camera.

The HERO3+ camera models claim dramatically improved low light performance and have a waterproof enclosure which is 20% lighter and 15% smaller than the HERO3"s, according to the GoPro website. The HERO3+ camera housing is 20% smaller than the HERO3. The cameras are claimed to have improved image sharpness (close focus down to 7" vs about 3 ft on the HERO3, at the expense of distant focus which is slightly less sharp

In September 2014, GoPro released an entry level camera named simply "HERO", priced at $130, alongside the HERO4 Black and HERO4 Silver. It is built into a waterproof housing, unlike the HERO4 line.

The GoPro HERO (2014) can capture 5mp still images and has a 5fps burst option. It is able to record 1080P at 30 or 25fps and 720P at 60 or 50fps on to a MicroSD card up to 32GB. It has an LCD non touch display on the front and is waterproof down to 40m.

In June 2015, the company started to sell the GoPro HERO+LCD, which provides video recording at 1080p at 60 fps and 8 megapixel photos. The HERO+LCD is also built into a waterproof housing.

The HERO8 Black largely introduced several new functions into the camera. Physically, the HERO8 Black now incorporates the connecting prongs that are used to connect accessories, directly onto the camera. Originally, the cameras would only be able to access the prongs if the cameras utilised either the frames (for cameras HERO5 to HERO7) or the protective cases for HERO4 and before. Moreover, the GoPro logo moved under the LCD screen to make way for extra microphones. More additions to the camera most notably were part of the software aspects of the camera. These included an option to switch between various settings presets, including standard, activity, cinematic and action shots and adjusting on-screen shortcuts of the user interface. Most notably as part of software, was the introduction of the night-lapse video, which similar to the time-lapse video mode, automatically stitches the frames captured by the camera at set intervals, however with the addition of improved low-light performance.

The HERO8 Black also attempts to address vloggers who may wish to use the GoPro in such a manner. As such, GoPro has also introduced an external accessory known as the "Media Mod" which includes a USB Type-C port for supplying power to external microphones and accessories, a micro-HDMI port and a 3.5mm microphone port. Moreover, the accessory includes a mount to connect either external microphones, LEDs or an LCD screen.

We may be at the tail end of summer, but that doesn"t mean you have to stop swimming -- the weather outside is still hot after all. And though our swimming days may be numbered, we"re heading into the wet seasons of fall and winter. That makes waterproof cameras still worth having around if you like taking video on rainy days.

Of course, depending on your plans, something as simple as a waterproof case for your phone might work. But there are other situations. You may want a waterproof action camera, such as a GoPro underwater camera and alternatives like it, to capture adventures on the high seas (or your latest kayaking trip).

If you"re into underwater photography, you"re probably looking for a digital camera that"s not only waterproof but also takes amazing pics. A more rugged camera may not necessarily come with things like wide-angle shooting, the ability to take pictures in low light or optimal white balance. We don"t have any underwater DSLR cameras on this list, but some of the best waterproof camera options here can take incredible photos.

Are you ready to find the best waterproof camera for you? Below is a roundup of choices, ranging from a simple and cheap underwater camera to a more expensive and elaborate device for underwater shooting. You might not need the latter, but you"ll be able to record killer videos on every waterslide and deep underwater reef. See my video below for a sample of what to expect.

We update this list of the best waterproof camera options periodically, most recently to reflect changes in the GoPro line, along with an updated evaluation of our budget pick, the Akaso Brave 7 LE.

If you"re on a budget, you can still get a waterproof action cam for all your underwater activities. The Akaso Brave 7 LE not only records 4K video, has image stabilization, and a front-facing screen, but comes with a plethora of accessories all for way less than a comparable GoPro sans accessories.

If you don"t need the ultimate in video quality, frame-rates or stabilization, the Hero7 Black will work just fine. The compact camera"s small size can fit just about anywhere, and it"s waterproof without a case to 33 feet (10 meters). This is plenty for things like surfing, pools, probably snorkeling too unless you"ve got fins or can really hold your breath. For deeper dives, there"s a dive case available that"s good down to 131 feet (40 meters).

Two other accessories I recommend for this waterproof underwater camera are the Handler and the Hand/Wrist Strap. The Handler floats with the camera attached, making it much harder to lose your GoPro. The Strap lets you have your hands free. Not ideal for continuous shooting, but for short clips and photos, just aim like Spidey. OK, maybe not exactly like Spidey.

For a step up in resolution, frame rate and image stabilization, the Hero 9 Black is only a bit more money than the Hero 7 Black. Like the 7, the Hero 9 is waterproof down to 33 feet on its own and has a protective underwater housing capable of going much deeper.

GoPro isn"t the only name in action or waterproof cameras by any stretch, but it is the biggest. The ability to get an extra battery, get a different mount or case, just about anywhere, is a major selling point for this waterproof digital camera.

However, you can offset that a bit. This 600 lumen waterproof LED light from Light and Motion should work great for close up photos and videos. It"s not going to light up a school of fish, but a fish for sure, and sometimes that"s all you need. It"s rated down to 60m/196ft.

There are a lot of options available under $100, but they"re either dimmer, have extensive bad reviews or both. Before you buy this, or any underwater camera light, check out the user photos so you know its capabilities. Then double check you"re able to attach the light to your camera mount. If you want more brightness, there"s likely a waterproof light for however high your budget can go.

The One R is waterproof to 16 feet/5 meters as long as you have it secured inside the included mounting bracket. To go deeper, there are three options. For the 360 mod, there"s a vertical case (shown above), though you"ll need the vertical battery to go with it. That"s good down to 98 feet (30 meters). There are cases good to 197 feet (60 meters) for both the wide-angle 4K and 1-inch sensor modules.

One last piece of advice. No matter where you take your waterproof camera, make sure at the end of the day you rinse it, or its case if it has one, thoroughly with fresh water. Then let it dry completely before you put it away.
