Shares of the Cupertino, California-based company fell more than 4 percent to $498.20 before the bell on Monday. They closed at $520.30 on Friday on the Nasdaq. The news also dragged shares of Apple suppliers such as Cirrus Logic Inc and Qualcomm Inc.

Apple has asked Japan Display Inc, Sharp Corp and South Korea’s LG Display Co Ltd to roughly halve supplies of LCD panels from an initial plan for about 65 million screens in January-March, the Japanese daily said, citing people familiar with the situation, adding the U.S. firm also cut orders for other iPhone components.

The move, if confirmed, would tally with analysts saying that sales of the new iPhone 5, which was released in September, have not been as strong as anticipated.

Apple was not immediately available for comment outside regular U.S. business hours. No one at Sharp was immediately available to comment on Monday - a national holiday in Japan - and parts suppliers to Apple in Taiwan declined to comment.

Apple has lost ground in the $200 billion plus global smartphone market to South Korean rival Samsung Electronics and smaller Chinese rivals such as Huawei Technologies Co Ltd and ZTE Corp.

Jefferies analyst Peter Misek trimmed his iPhone shipment estimates for the January-March quarter on December 14, saying that the technology company had started cutting orders to suppliers to balance excess inventory.

42 officially recognized bands exist for LTE, however rollouts are coalescing around the more-popular bands, based on what historically has been made available in specific regions. In Europe, bands available for LTE include, 2.6 GHz (the 3G-expansion band) and 800 MHz (cleared of analogue TV), with 1,800 MHz appearing in a few places including the UK. In Germany, the only carrier network supported is that of T-Mobile with its 1,800 MHz band allocated to LTE.Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and others—will not be able to offer LTE connectivity via the iPhone 5 to their customers on their current LTE networks, as they have already deployed LTE in the 2.6 GHz band, which the iPhone 5 does not support.Swisscom reported that the iPhone 5 only supports LTE on networks that have been tested and certified by Apple.

Unlike the iPhone 4s, which was the only "world phone" produced by Apple, there are three versions of the iPhone 5, which differ by the frequency used. All three work on 2G GSM/GPRS and 3G UMTS/EDGE networks on both the 800 and 1900 MHz bands used in the Americas, and the 900 and 1800 MHz bands used elsewhere. The CDMA A1429 model works on CDMA networks, such as that of Sprint and Verizon. Another version supports LTE only on the 1700/2100 MHz AWS band, and the 700 MHz band recovered after the conversion to digital television in the US (channels 52 to 56), currently the only network that supports the band is AT&T. GSM A1429 supports several other LTE bands available in other countries, such as LTE bands 1, 3, 5.

The iPhone 5 received mainly positive reviews from commentators and reviewers. Tim Stevens from iPhone 5 for its high resolution screen surpassing that of the iPhone 4s, which he considered to be one of the best phone screens available on the market. Stevens was critical of the new connector, which is incompatible with devices and cables that use the superseded 30-pin connector, although the David Pogue of Ed Baig of iFixit found the iPhone 5 easier to disassemble and repair than its predecessor.

iPhone 5s and first-generation iPhone SE, was regarded as "long been the golden child of Apple phone design and a benchmark for phones in general", while the succeeding iPhone 6/6S design was less critically acclaimed as it "felt a little bit wrong, as though you were holding a slick $650 bar of soap". Reviewers and commentators were critical of the new Maps app that replaced Google Maps in iOS 6. It had been reported to contain errors such as misplacement of landmark tags, directing users to incorrect locations and poor satellite images.

Gizmodo editor Diaz discussed the correspondence between Apple and a reader about purple flare in pictures taken on iPhone 5 camera. Apple"s response to the issue was that it is normal and advised the customer to aim the camera away from bright light sources when taking photos.TechCrunch indicate that the problem existed on the iPhone 4s but was more distinct and pronounced on the iPhone 5.Consumer Reports found that the purple haze effect occurred on several other manufacturers" phones including the Samsung Galaxy S III and Motorola Droid Razr Maxx, and that it was not less pronounced on the iPhone 4s. The report concluded that digital cameras in general, including higher-end SLRs, can all suffer from lens flare in which a purple-tinted effect was not uncommon.

There were anecdotal claims of the coating of primarily black iPhone 5s chipping off, exposing the bright aluminium underneath. Apple executive"s response to email correspondence from an affected customer summarized that it was normal for aluminum to scratch.antennagate" which affected the iPhone 4, was applied by various sources such as CNET, Yahoo News, and All Things Digital to describe the scuffing issue.

Some users reported on the Internet that the white model leaked light behind the screen, though the issue was not unique to the iPhone 5, as it also affected other Apple devices.

Techcrunch reported that the iPhone 5 sold out twenty times faster than the 4 and 4s models. Apple said that they were "blown away by the customer response".Phil Schiller, Apple"s vice-president of worldwide marketing, said that over two million iPhone 5 orders had been received in the first 24 hours.AT&T said that the iPhone 5 was the fastest-selling iPhone the company had ever offered, selling over five million units on launch weekend and exceeding the supply available.

J.P. Morgan"s chief economist, Michael Feroli said that "sales of iPhone 5 could boost annualized US GDP growth by $3.2 billion, or $12.8 billion at an annual rate."

Since the release of the iPhone 5, discounts on previous generation iPhones have enabled Apple to maintain a market lead in the United States and Japan, but the iPhone continued to lag behind the combined total of Android phones in the global market.

It also has the potential to be quite an expensive accident, particularly if you"re the owner of an iPhone 5. Read on to find out what you can do. It"s a simple accident, and one that many others make on a daily basis. It also has the potential to be quite an expensive accident, particularly if you"re the owner of an . If you"ve just broken your screen, or happen to do so in the future then it pays to know what options you have open to you. Here they all are, laid bare. Option 1 AppleCare Hooray! You bought AppleCare! That"s the best possible outcome, because the premium after-sales support package that will set you back around $100 comes with 2 extra years of warranty plus coverage for accidental damage. Many users are reporting that this cannot be purchased and

activated without the phone being inspected first, which makes sense from Apple"s point of view. It"s not all butterflies and daisies though, as you"ll have to pay for the privilege. Apple charges a $49 premium for accidental damage including a screen replacement. They also restrict this service to twice per the device"s lifespan, so if you break your screen twice you"d better hope you don"t go breaking anything else. Whether Apple actually repairs your screen or not is another question that you won"t be able to answer until you step into their glass box of tricks. An suggests that Apple can and will replace the iPhone 5"s screen in-store, whereas many have experienced the opposite - Apple swapping their phones out for refurbished (yet still perfectly functional) models. I called up a local Apple store and was told that no screen replacements were made on the iPhone 5 and that units were instead swapped. This sort of activity is very common at the start of the product cycle, particularly for the iPhone 5 which used a brand new screen and chassis. We"re almost into the next cycle and Apple are still swapping phones here in Australia, though. Cost: $99 for AppleCare, $49 for each replacement Option 2 Get Apple To Repair It So you didn"t buy AppleCare, and so you"ve not got any accidental damage cover. If you"ve recently purchased the device and still have a while left on your warranty period, Apple are probably the best people for the job. They"re also probably the most expensive people for the job,

too. I made a call to a local Apple store here in Melbourne and enquired what it would cost to replace an iPhone 5 screen that was not covered by AppleCare. I was told this would cost "anywhere up to" AU$280 (that"s US$276) to replace just the screen. This is assuming the rest of the phone is perfectly functional, but also taking on board that no screen will actually be replaced on your model - instead Apple will provide you with a refurbished model. This is in-line with many quotes I have seen online for users unlucky enough to have broken their iPhone 5s, with anywhere from $220 to $300 quotes as the going rate for an Apple replacement stateside. According to Apple Australia, iPhone 4 owners will pay less at up to AU$180 (US$177) for a replacement and the iPhone 4S will run you around AU$230 (US$227). This might be cheaper but if you have an iPhone 4 or 4S your device might not even be under warranty any more. In this instance you might want to consider the next, cheaper option. Cost: Up to $300 for an iPhone 5, $230 for an iPhone 4S and $180 for an iPhone 4 (estimate). Option 3 Pay Someone Else To Do It If you own an older iPhone 4, 4S or you"ve otherwise voided the warranty on your iPhone 5 (at the time of writing it"s not been out for longer than the warranty lasts) then your other quick and easy fix involves a third-party repair service. One thing to take note of are third-party replacement parts. When my girlfriend broke her 4S screen in November of last year the repair technician I used offered

me official parts or third-party parts. While the third-party replacements were virtually half the price I was told there was a noticeable difference in response. If you"ve spent a couple of hundred dollars on what is essentially a luxury item, you don"t want to go putting inferior parts on it - so I"d always recommend you opt for official Apple replacements. Unfortunately due to iPhone 5 parts still being scarce and expensive, these services are unlikely to be able to offer you much of a saving over an official Apple swap. The coveted competition will take place across two days, namely September 29 and 30. In 2019, Mexico dominated the field with 14 medals - 12 gold, one silver and one bronze. Hosts Costa Rica came second with eight medals and Canada ended up third with six medals. The United States have also been strong contenders, having won two gold medals in 2019. At the World Championships held earlier this year, the US bagged 16 gold medals. Mexico, Canada and Ecuador were the only other Pan-American nations to grab a gold medal at the event, with each taking home one each. The US team will surely be the one to watch out for.
