If you want your replaced screen done properly, do this. You will need to add a straight edge blade to your tool arsenal, doesnt need to be sharp but a box cutter blade is ideal for working the screen out of the housing (just above the headphone jack is the place to work the blade in between the housing and the screen). Then use the provided plastic tool to work around the edges to fully remove the screen.I wont lie, even with experience, after putting my new screen in, I had blue lines show up initially, I went back to the screen connections on the motherboard and rechecked them. One thing that"s not in that video, and is probably because this is a different manufacturer, is about the front camera centering ring. There is a transparent plastic ring that"s stuck to the back of the screen, which ensures that the camera is centered in that little hole on the front. This display did not come with it, I had to basically take that out of the old display, crazy glue it to the new one and then continue with the setup. Lucky, that I had Crazy Glue tube handy otherwise it"s a run to the store with your phone taken apart in pieces...

Anyway, the install is complicated, not exactly easy and if it"s not for you don"t buy this and get your phone to a store where someone else will do it for you, and better chance that you don"t break more stuff doing this. As far the display itself, I did not have any install issues, it fit perfectly. That makes me think that folks who complained about the fit in various reviews might have had the frame damaged as well when they dropped / cracked the display.

So far the display looks okay, don"t have any complaints, all looks well. I will update the review in a few weeks if it continues to be good or if something goes south. If you’ve got a iPhone 5S with a broken touch ID button or flex cable, you’re pretty much stuck! The iPhone 5S touch ID and motherboard are linked specifically to each other and there is no way to swap out the touch ID and still have the fingerprint sensors work.

Don’t ever attempt to change the iPhone 5S home button from the flex cable. The sensor is glued to the sapphire with very strong adhesive. Disassembling the button from the chip will cause irreversible damage. The electronic components will be different if you attempt to connect another button to the touch ID flex and will not function. You can’t recalibrate the sensor and it will never read fingerprints again. It will however function as a home button.
