r1200gs tft display review price
That said with the issues that guys seem to be having, although a software update is supposed to be helping that issue, it does not interest me in the least Just as I could do without keyless start, I can do without the TFT.
BMW is adding a new colour TFT display as an option in place of the usual instrument cluster on R 1200 GS and Adventure models from the autumn. The 6.5-inch unit has a high-definition display and can show a number of different menu functions according to the rider’s preference.
The BMW Motorrad Connected App can be used to plot a route, and this can then be relayed to the rider via arrow navigation on the TFT display. However, this doesn’t provide as much detailed route information that you would find on a stand-alone sat-nav unit, so if you want to plan a longer journey with waypoints, or look for points of interest along a route, you’ll need to stick with a sat nav. But if you’re just trying to make it to a business meeting this new system should get you there without a fuss. The app can also record your routes and show information and statistics from these.
The second segment is the premiere of our new series of ‘Owner Reviews’. These are real-world opinions of machines owned by everyman riders. For this first one, I chat with my friend Dale Wagler. Dale is a former Marine and hard-core street- and dirt-bike rider. Dale recently acquired a new BMW 1250 GS Adventure, and he gives us his thoughts on the bike’s positives—and a few negatives too.
If you’d like to be considered for a future Owner Reviews segment on an episode of Motos & Friends, please email us at producer@ultimatemotorcycling.com and tell us briefly about your bike. We’d love to hear from you!
BMW Motorrad is set to introduce a 6.5 inch TFT display instrument cluster that connects with smartphones and BMW’s helmet communication system via Bluetooth. The TFT not only displays basic data such as rpm and speed, but also a range of other features.
Media playback and phone functions can also be accessed using the TFT display or with a helmet equipped with BMW’s helmet communication system. The rider can listen to music while on the go. Apart from that, he can also access his smartphone contacts on the TFT display. All of these functions can be used without an extra app.
If you want extra information, BMW also offers an app, called the BMW Motorrad Connected. The app records riding routes or displays ride statistics and information. It can be connected to the TFT and it displays navigation like precise turn indications including lane guiding and your last destination point. The display is useful in more ways than one; it uses an integrated on-board computer that displays ride-relevant information. It displays information like the tyre pressure setting for both tyres. Not only are the actual tyre pressure settings displayed but also the recommended tyre pressures in the respective situation.
BMW plans to launch the Connectivity option on the R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure by September, with other models in tow. India will get this option when BMW Motorrad India launches the updated versions of the bikes here. Both the R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure are available in India and are priced at Rs 16.13 lakh and Rs 17.75 lakh respectively.
The TFT display connects your smartphone and bike together and, together with the BMW Connected App, enables you to find your route, listen to music and make phone calls while on the move. Thanks to the new USB socket, your smartphone never runs out of power when you’re on the road.

The protective film is made of a special hardened glass that reliably protects the 6.5-inch TFT display against contamination, stone chips and damage, even while riding in off-road terrain. The hardened glass has a non-reflective surface that makes the TFT display easy to read during everyday use. The protective film displays the BMW Motorrad lettering in the bottom left corner.
