Besides excellent cooling and superior performance, LCD Edge View is another spotlight of AORUS RTX 30 series graphics cards. LCD Edge View is a small LCD located on the top of the graphics card. What could users do with this small LCD? Let’s find it out.

LCD Edge View is a LCD located on the graphics card, you can use it todisplay GPU info including temperature, usage, clock speed, fan speed, VRAM usage, VRAM clock and total card power. All this information can be shown one by one or just certain ones on the LCD.

Besides that, there are three different displaying styles available and users could choose their ideal one. However, not just GPU info but FPS (Frame Per Second) in the game or other application could be displayed through LCD Edge View.

The LCD Edge View can also show customized content including text, pictures or even short GIF animations.Users could input the preferred text to the LCD, also set the font size, bold or italic. It also supports multi-language so users could input whatever type of text they want.

About the picture, LCD Edge View allows users to upload a JPEG file to it and AORUS RGB Fusion software will let users choose which region of the picture should be shown. The support of short GIF animations is the most interesting part.

Users can upload a short animation in terms of GIF to be shown on the LCD so they can easily build up a graphics card with their own style. All of the customizations above can be done via AORUS RGB Fusion software.

There’s something more interesting with LCD Edge View: The little CHIBI.CHIBI is a little falcon digitally living in the LCD Edge View and will grow up as more time users spend with their graphics card. Users could always check their little CHIBI through the LCD Edge View and watch it eat, sleep or fly around, which is quite interactive and interesting.

In conclusion, LCD Edge View can display a series of useful GPU information, customized text, pictures, and animations, allowing users to build up the graphics card with their own style. Users can also have more interaction with their card via the little CHIBI, the exclusive little digital falcon living inside the LCD Edge View, which brings more fun while playing with the graphics card.

If the screen abnormality is not present in the built-in self-test mode, see the Dell knowledge base article How to Troubleshoot Display or Video Issues on a Dell Monitor.

If the LCD built-in self-test (BIST) diagnostic test passed, the laptop LCD screen is working correctly. The display problem could be due to an outdated graphics driver or incorrect video settings. Follow the troubleshooting instructions in the Dell knowledge base article How to Troubleshoot Display or Video Issues on a Dell Laptop.

The symptom described to me were of graphical artifacts on the screen and that years ago apple had replaced the GPU, my guess is that this second 6970m 1024mb was also now failed.

So upon taking the glass off I noticed only 4 screws holding on the lcd which had been stripped a bit (uhh ohh i thought) but upon removing the 4 cables i was presently surprised to see that they looked in good condition, the vsync cable did seem to slide in and out easy.

Booting with the screen connected i get boot chime, no display, no sign of image on screen under torch light, 1,2 and 3 diagnostic LED are solid green.

My next step was to go out and buy a mini display to HDMI, i come back and boot it up connected to my TV and get to the blurred out log-in screen. After powering off and disconnecting the LCD i rebooted and get the visible log-in screen and start using Safari to download a fan controller.

I’m hoping its not this issue as solved by Yako ( link deleted so the iFixit robot diesn’t delete my post) Google yako ifixit post, its in regards to a blown ferrite chip which is responsible for the 12v on LCD Display port.

Removed the gpu and gave it a good scrub and ethanol bath and decided to bake it now in preparation for the thermal pads hopefully arriving on Monday.

Finished the fans and went to get another drink, opps, completely forgot about the gpu while in fan clean mode ? oh well 25 minutes, well done instead of medium rare. I"m curious to see if I completely stuffed the card so decided that ill put it all together without paste or pads for a quick 1 minute test.

Desktop graphics cards contain a graphics processing unit (GPU) that takes data from the CPU and translates it into images rendered on a monitor. What we classify as desktop graphics cards or mainstream graphics cards are optimized to handle gaming workloads. In contrast, workstation graphics cards are geared toward for professional design and scientific applications. Today"s mainstream graphics cards are also powerful enough to run creative applications reasonably well. However, workstation cards are not designed to run gaming graphics engines and tend to underperform under gaming workloads.

There are only three GPU chipmakers -- AMD, NVIDIA, and most recently Intel -- that manufacture the GPUs. You will find that desktop graphics cards are available from several different manufacturers, including ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI and others. These are board partners that build the interfaces, mechanisms for gpu cooling and overclocking, and other component parts of the graphics card.

Historically, AMD and NVIDIA have dominated the GPU space. Next-gen GPUs like NVIDIA RTX 40-series graphics cards (released Oct. 2022) offer some of the most powerful desktop graphics processing available. The AMD Radeon RX-7000 series cards occupy the mid-to-high range. A newcomer to the GPU space, the Intel Arc A5 and A7 series graphics cards offer mid-range performance at competitive price points. Intel Arc A3 series graphics cards offer an economy option for players interested in running contemporary games at standard settings. Arc cards are available in gaming laptops from ASUS and MSI.

Recent generations of NVIDIA RTX and AMD Radeon graphics cards introduced support for ray traced graphics, an example of hardware assisted graphics acceleration. While ray tracing without dedicated hardware is possible, the latest advancements happen by way of dedicated cores built into your GPU. Tensor cores that were added alongside the CUDA cores that traditionally handle the graphics load in gaming systems. Adding tensor cores into the mix allows graphics cards to handle more advanced workloads, most notably crunching number sets that are involved in machine learning.

NVIDIA Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) helps your PC render images at a lower resolution initially, and then increase the resolution so it matches the native dimensions on your screen. For example, say you want to play games on a 1440 (2k) monitor -- DLSS 2.0 does some of the processing for you -- with the help of NVIDIA supercomputers pushing some of your pixels. Your system assumes a 1080 workload while you play on 1440 image.

GPU clearance is an umbrella term for the physical dimensions of graphics cards. Graphics cards are measured in millimeters by length, width, and thickness. Your PC case cannot be shorter or narrower than your graphics card. You can find low profile graphics cards that have compact builds to fit inside smaller case form factors.

Nvidia unveiled the RTX 40 series GPUs, specifically the RTX 4090 and two RTX 4080 models on September 20. The company subsequently scrapped the launch of the RTX 4080 12 GB following backlash from the media and users alike as the card was significantly less powerful than the RTX 4080 16 GB. So, the RTX 4080 16 GB will be the only RTX 4080 model available for sale on November 16.

Citing one of his sources from a “major retailer”, Tom suggests that the retailers will have a large Day 1 supply of the RTX 4080 GPUs. But even though the stock will be comparatively large for a flagship launch, there will reportedly be 20-40% fewer RTX 4080 boards to go around globally than the RTX 4090. The actual bad news for Nvidia enthusiasts that are waiting to get their hands on a next-gen GPU is that the RTX 4080 cards won’t supposedly be restocked at the same rate as the RTX 4090 GPUs in Q4.

The holiday season is looking like a solid time for high-end GPU shoppers. In addition to the GeForce RTX 40 boards, AMD’s newest RX 7900 XT and the RX 7900 XTX will be on market shelves for Christmas starting December 13 for US$899 and US$999 respectively. Seeing as to how both GPUs are much cheaper and apparently more efficient than Nvidia’s offerings, customers have a lot of options to choose from.
