Liquid crystal displays (LCDs) are the most widely used display technology. Their applications cover TV, mobile phone, appliances, automotive, smart home, industrial meters, consumer electronics, POS, marine, aerospace, military etc. LCD screen display problem can occur for several reasons.

Effect of environmental conditions on the LCD assembly. Environmental conditions include both the effects of temperature and humidity, and cyclic loading.

Effect of manufacturing process. With the development of LCD for more than 40 years and the modern manufacturing equipment, this kind if defects are getting rear.

Common failures seen in LCDs are a decrease in screen contrast, non-functioning pixels or the whole display, and broken glass. Different kinds of LCD display problem need to have different kinds of fix methods or make the decision not worthwhile to repair.

Broken glassIf you accidently drop the LCD and you find it broken on the surface but the display still works. You might just break the touch panel; you can find a repair house or find a youtube video to replace the touch panel. If you find the display not showing, especially you find the fluid leaking out. You need to reply the whole display modules.

Dim LCD displayLCD can’t emit light itself. It uses backlight. Normally, the backlight is not fully driven, you can increase the LED backlight to make a dim LCD display brighter. But if you LCD display has been used for a long time, it is possible that the LED backlight has to be the end of life (not brightness enough) if you turn on 100% backlight brightness. In that case to fix LCD screen, you have to find a way to change the backlight. For some display, it is an easy job but it can be difficult for other displays depending on the manufacturing process.

LCD has white screen – If a LCD has a white screen which means the backlight is good. Simply check your signal input sources which are the most causes. It can also be caused by the display totally damaged by ESD or excess heat, shock which make the LCD controller broken or the connection failure which has to be repaired by professionals.

Blur ImagesAs the LCD images are made of RGB pixels, the screen shouldn’t be blur like old CRT displays. If you do see blur images, they might be caused by two reasons. 1) LCD has certain response time, if you are playing games or watch fast action movies, some old LCD displays can have image delays. 2) The surface of the LCD is made of a layer of plastic film with maximum hardness of 3H. If you clean the surface often or use the wrong detergent or solvent which cause the surface damage. To fix damage on LED screen it’s need to be changed with professionals.

hi, my phone got into water. i had it dried on hair dryer, rice and silica gel for several days. when i try to turn it on, it vibrates but the screen is black. if i charge it, the only thing that shows is the percentage but remains unresponsive. which part of the screen should i change? thank you

Sir, Last evening Im using FB app and suddenly within a minute my phone screen turns black and everything inside working but black screen remains the same. From last 1.5 years, I didn’t let my mobile fall from hand. Need your assist and advice.

I have a Nokia 6.1 (TA-1045). It’s screen started to come off due to swollen a battery. I followed YouTube videos to use a hair dryer to carefully remove the screen and fix the battery issue. When I reinstalled the screen the lights on the side come on but the screen is black with a small gray area on the left bottom side of the display. Phone turns on and receives calls and appears to be working properly but does not show anything on the screen. I don’t know if I too much heat while trying to remove the screen.

Could it be a problem with the screen, flat cable or main board? Is there anything I could do to test if the LCD has gone bad or entire screen with digitizer has to be replaced?

Thank you. The battery issue is resolved but my Nokia 6.1 display is not working. It has a black screen with a small gray area. I replaced the display with a new one but I still have a black screen (no gray area). My phone turns on and appears to work fine other than no display. The touch screen is also working. Can this be a problem with the main board of the phone or a loose connection?

Touch screen seem fine also when i try to swap away the alarm. No display on screen despite multiple restart/reboot. What could possibly be wrong with the phone?

Did the Phone Fall anytime? There could be 2 Reasons: 1) The connector of the Display is Lose in the Main PCB of the Phone. Remember that the Display and Touchscreen and two different things. The Touchscreen has different Connector to the Main Board. (2) The Display has gone Faulty and needs Replacement.

Get the Phone checked and see if the Display Connector is Fixed Properly. If it is Properly Fixed and the Problem is Still there then maybe you have to Replace the Display.

Your Touchscreen is OK. The Display is Gone Faulty. Replace with Combo Set. Also Install a Protective Gorilla Glass of the Duplicate Combo for Safety as they are very delicate.

You mean you Replaced the Old Display with New One and it is still not working. If yes, then there is serious problem with the Board. It is better to get Rid of such a Phone and Buy a New One.

Sir,mera phone Lenovo K8note hai, screen pahle aadhi hokar, linings aati thi, phir Black Hokar bandh ho rahi thi, maine combo naya lagvay ,par problem solve nahi hua,ab mujhe Kya solution de sakte hai,Kya karna chahiye .

Don’t switch ON the Phone it Shorting May Happen. Disassemble the Phone Completely and Clean with Tinner or IPA Properly. Assemble Back and Check. If the Problem is NOT Solved then Disassemble again and Apply Liquid Flux All Over and Board and Give Heat. Assemble Back and Check. If the Problem is still NOT Solved then the Phone is Short. It must be Checked Properly by some Experienced Technician if you have No Experience.

Slowly drag your finger to the bottom right corner without lifting. Try to move your finger slowly enough that you can count to 10 before reaching the opposite corner of the screen.

IMPORTANT: A factory data reset will remove all data from your phone. While any data stored in your Google Account will be restored, all apps and their associated data will be uninstalled. Before you perform a factory data reset, we recommend backing up your phone.

The first thing you need to do when your LCD screen gets broken is to check your phone insurance. You’ll need to know whether it covers your cracked screens and the specific conditions that surround them. Doing this helps you make the most out of the money you paid for your phone insurance.

If the insurance covers the LCD screen, arranging for a repair will be straightforward. In a lot of situations, your main issue will involve going about your day without a phone. You can expect it to return within a few days.

Take note, you might still need to pay for the excess charges. The only time problems start is when you can’t get any replacement when your screen breaks. In that case, you’ll need to do the repairs on your own.

A good option while putting your cracked phone to the repair shop is to use an old phone. If you still have your old phone stashed away somewhere, it might be your best bet for now. Look at your drawers and check whether your old phones are still functional.

If your old phones aren’t there anymore, you still have friends and relatives. Ask them if they have gadgets they’re willing to lend. That way, you’ll have something to use while you decide what method to use to repair your cracked LCD screen.

In 2017 alone, around 5 million smartphone owners in the United States broke their phone screens. That shows how likely it is for you to break yours too. Accidents can happen even when people are careful.

It can get difficult, especially when the screen itself cracks instead of the glass cover. Repairing your screen will need you to take it apart using these steps:

Remove your battery cover as well as the battery and all the cards from the device. Once done, you can now unscrew the back of the device as well as remove the screws around the LCD. The screw types will depend on your phone brand and model, but the most common ones include T4, T6, or #00 Phillips screws.

Most devices have a cable that runs from the LCD to the control board. Disconnect the cable by lifting up on the connector. You also need to do the same on the cable that runs from the glass to the control board.

Try using a pry stick to remove the LCD from its own housing. Some devices might require you to remove the glass off first. If so, you need to use a heat gun on the glass for about half a minute to make the adhesive loose enough.

It’s important to remember that some devices like the iPhone combine the glass and the LCD together. That’s why it’s important to look at your replacement LCD and see if it also has the glass with it. If they’re connected, there’s no more need to pry them apart.

Put the replacement LCD in the housing of the cracked one. Once you’re finished, you can now reassemble the device. It’s easy as long as you reverse the steps you took when taking it apart.

There is always the option to send your phone to its manufacturer for the repair. But if you don’t want to pay a lot, you should try a local repair shop. The great thing is that it only takes a short Google search to find the ones near your area.

It’s always important to check the customer reviews before you commit your phone to an expert. Not all repair shops are the same. But if you find a skilled technician, you can rest easy since they can repair your screen fast.

In some scenarios, your phone will sustain irreparable damage alongside its LCD screens. You might think that it’s already worthless and hopeless. But the truth is that there are some websites out there that will pay for your broken device.

A good example is the shopping platform eBay. Some people buy broken phones since they want to salvage other parts to repair their own phone. It won’t net you a lot of money, but you can at least save some money when you need to buy new phones.

Some will also give you credit if you’re buying a used phone. Keep in mind that you might get a better deal if you take that instead of getting cash. But it’s only good if you’re buying a used device.

You have a lot of options if your phone’s LCD screen gets broken. No matter what you choose for your LCD phone screen repair, keep in mind that these options are always available for you. Look for the best option and commit to it as soon as you can.

phone lcd screen problems manufacturer

However, if the digitizer or LCD is also damaged during a fall, that screen no longer carries value because it cannot be refurbished. Repair shops cannot sell broken LCDs to refurbishing companies; therefore, they cannot offset the cost of an LCD repair. That is why repair stores often charge a little extra if there is damage to the LCD or digitizer, to make up for that loss. Repair stores that don’t have an additional charge for an LCD repair typically inflate their glass repair price to make up for the loss from damaged LCDs. If they have one price, that means everyone is paying more to cover the cost of customers who have damaged LCDs and customers who only have cracked glass. This is why TCR separates the price of glass and LCD repairs for you! If you only have cracked glass, you only have to worry about paying to replace the cracked glass.

If your phone or tablet’s glass is shattered there will be cracks or chips on the screen itself. If it is just the glass that is damaged, the device may still function and you may be able to use it normally. If this is the case, it is likely that only the glass needs to be replaced. To prevent further damage to your device it is best to get it repaired quickly. For example, if liquids seep through the cracks it could cause permanent damage to the LCD.

Many people may continue to use their touchscreen with shattered glass and delay fixing the glass on their devices; however, if the touchscreen isn’t responsive, it could be a sign of more significant damage to the device’s digitizer which is integrated with the LCD screen.

A pixelated screen can indicate LCD damage. This would look like a patch of multicolored dots, a line or lines of discoloration, or a screen with rainbow colors. For many people, these colors are an easy way to know that their LCD is broken and that they should get it repaired.

Dropping your phone isn’t the only reason you’ll end up with a pixelated screen. Over time, your screen’s LCD may break down through regular use. This happens to other devices aside from your smartphone or tablet. Pixelation can happen to TVs and computers, too. People typically decide to buy a new device when this happens. Fortunately, with an LCD repair, you can fix the device without needing to replace it.

A black screen or black spots on your smartphone or tablet is an indication of a damaged LCD. Often with a bad LCD, a phone may still turn on and make noises, but there is no clear picture. This does not necessarily mean any other part of the phone is damaged and a simple screen replacement will get it functioning again. Sometimes it can mean a battery or other internal component is damaged. It is best to have a highly qualified phone repair technician diagnose what is wrong so the appropriate repair can be made.

Fortunately, your mobile device is fixable whether you cracked the glass or damaged the LCD. Stop by or call TCR: Triangle Cellular Repair at (919) 263-2699 for a free diagnostic and quick, affordable cell phone repair in Chapel Hill and surrounding areas. We’re always happy to help!

Is your phone"s screen behaving oddly? Have you noticed your iPhone or Android phone"s display glitching? It could be doing so for several reasons. From loose internal connections to buggy software, many issues can cause a smartphone screen to flicker.

The first thing to do when trying to fix a glitching phone screen is to restart your phone to ensure that this isn"t a temporary issue. Performing a restart kills any active third-party background services and processes that could be causing the display problem.

Restarting will also refresh your phone"s memory components if any of them crashed during a task. After rebooting, if the display is no longer flickering or glitching, you should review all the recent apps you"ve installed. If the problem comes back, try the next tip on this list.

Rebooting is the most basic troubleshooting step you can execute, and it does the trick for most problems. However, if it doesn"t fix your flickering display, consider wiping your phone entirely by performing a hard reset. Doing so will restore your phone to its factory settings and clear the cache.

If there"s any unprocessed data hampering your phone"s functions, a hard reset will clear everything right away. However, before performing a factory reset, don"t forget to back up your Android phone or your iPhone. Note that backing up a Samsung phone is slightly different since you need a Microsoft account to do so.

If your Android screen is still flickering, try switching to Safe Mode for a couple of hours. Safe Mode lets you use your phone without third-party apps and services. Unlike a factory reset, Safe Mode retains your phone"s data, and you can return to the regular experience anytime you want.

However, note that Safe Mode is merely a diagnostic tool and won"t solve the problem. If your phone works fine in Safe Mode, it means the problem is caused by a third-party app, not your phone.

The auto-brightness (Adaptive brightness) setting is responsible for constantly altering the screen"s illumination based on light sensor data. But a software update or hardware defect could lead to unexpected snags, including display flickers. Therefore, another straightforward action you can take is to disable the option from the Settings menu.

Alternatively, there"s also the option to reset the Adaptive brightness, which can come in handy if your phone struggles to adapt to new lighting conditions. To reset your phone brightness:

When rendering graphics, your phone dynamically decides whether the CPU or the GPU will handle the job. While the transition is usually seamless, a damaged or aged phone can struggle with screen compositing (layering images).

There is a minor delay between tasks when the phone doesn"t have anything to display. Hence, the flickering. But disabling hardware overlays can help. To do so, you"ll first need to enable Developer options.

Once in developer mode, head back to your phone settings and scroll to the bottom until you find Developer options. In it, scroll down to find Disable HW overlays and toggle it on. Note that this will consume extra power since disabling overlays forces the phone to use GPU rendering.

Unfortunately, there"s no guarantee that any of these steps will work. Sometimes, a glitching phone screen is due to a hardware failure, and there may be significant costs involved for repair or replacement. That"s why it"s worth giving each one of these tricks a shot first.

That said, your last resort is to get in touch with your device"s manufacturer and have your phone screen checked out by a professional. If none of these techniques worked, you might be facing a more complex issue. In these scenarios, the only option is to send your phone in for repair or replacement.

Since your phone plays such an active role in your life, you need everything to work correctly. Smartphones house many delicate and interconnected components, and the malfunctioning of any one can cause flickering displays.

Don"t worry; a flickering phone screen is usually fixable, assuming it"s a software issue. Even though mobile phones are complex and can be daunting to repair, trying these at-home tricks first can save you a lot of money versus buying a brand-new device.

Today, many of us rely on our smartphones to communicate, work, and play. Therefore, it can be quite alarming when they begin to act strangely – especially if you can’t get your phone to turn on at all.

One of the most concerning issues to plague smartphone users is a black screen, often referred to as the “black screen of death.” However, despite the harsh name, this issue can be remedied in several ways.

To fix a black screen on an iPhone or Android, the first (and easiest) step is to do a hard reset. This basically entails rebooting the phone’s software. A hard reset can be performed right on your phone, although the process differs depending on what type of device you own.

If you’re still staring at a blank screen, it’s possible that the cable connecting the logic board to the LCD screen has become disconnected. This can occur if you accidentally drop your phone a few times. In order to regain your screen’s functionality, the cable will need to be plugged back in.

If you want to repair a broken iPhone or Android this way, it’s best to seek help from a professional. While you may find DIY instructions online, you could risk causing irreparable damage to your device if you don’t know what you’re doing. So, if you suspect that your phone’s LCD cable is disconnected, search for a place in Las Vegas that fixes phones.

When your phone screen goes black randomly, it may be an indication that something is wrong with your operating system. In that case, a factory reset is often beneficial. During a factory reset, your device’s data and settings are completely wiped, returning the phone to its original state (i.e., the state it was in when you first purchased it).

Not sure how to do a factory reset on an iPhone or Android? The process is more involved than that of a hard reset but can still be done with moderate ease.

Keep in mind that this process takes longer than a simple hard reset – you may have to wait several minutes for your phone to restart. Once the process is complete, check to make sure the device has been restored to its factory settings. If you’re presented with the iOS Setup Assistant upon startup, you’ll know the reset was successful. From there, you can choose to restore your backed-up data.

Your phone may not be charging properly if the charging port is blocked off due to grit or debris. Simply blowing on the port a few times can help. For a deeper clean, you can try gently scraping with a toothpick or using a cotton ball (or Q-tip) with rubbing alcohol. Some people recommend trying a low setting with a vacuum to extract dirt, but that can easily damage parts. Blowing out dirt with compressed air is a safer alternative.

Software issues with apps can sometimes cause a phone to act unpredictably. If you are noticing certain apps are crashing frequently, you should update them immediately. You should also consider deleting buggy apps for security and the health of your phone. If an app has crashed on your Android, you can force stop it through settings > apps & notifications -> see all apps -> force stop.

Don"t worry; a flickering phone screen is usually fixable, assuming it"s a software issue. Even though mobile phones are complex and can be daunting to repair, trying these at-home tricks first can save you a lot of money versus buying a brand-new device.

You probably touch your phone"s screen hundreds of times per day. Combined with its delicate glass build, it"s no surprise that smartphone touchscreens are one of the most common components to run into issues.

But the touch screen not working on your Android phone isn"t always the result of a hardware failure. If your phone touchscreen often isn"t working or fails to respond, there"s a lot you can do before getting professional help.

First, you should rule out the possibility of a software bug if your phone touch screen is not working. There are a handful of troubleshooting steps you can do to confirm this.

A good-old reboot might sound futile to fix such an advanced issue. However, it"s often one of the most successful ways to fix an unresponsive touch screen on Android. Restarting your phone shuts down and refreshes all background services, which could have crashed and led to your issue.

If you"re unable to touch the screen to select the option, on most devices, you can hold down the Power button for several seconds to switch off your phone. In some cases, you may need to hold down the Power button and the Volume Up button at the same time.

If your touch screen is not working, but only intermittently, then you may be able to re-boot your phone into safe mode. Android"s safe mode lets you use your phone with only the original software it shipped with, which strips out all services and apps you"ve installed. If your display works normally in safe mode, a third-party app is likely at fault here.

To enter safe mode on most new Android devices, press and hold the power button. In the resulting prompt, touch and hold the Power off button. Once you see the prompt to enter safe mode, tap OK, and your phone will soon restart. To exit safe mode, just restart your phone normally.

If you"re scratching your head wondering, "Why is my phone touchscreen not working?", you"ll find a range of apps on the Play Store that could help you to diagnose your display issues. These are designed to pinpoint what exactly is wrong with your phone"s touchscreen. We recommend trying out one simply called Display Tester.

When you launch Display Tester, head into its Tests tab. Here, you have the option to test a whole bunch of aspects. The app can detect dead pixels, burn-in on OLED screens, whether the contrast and saturation are accurate, multi-touch status, and more.

If you got positive results in touch-based tests, you should review all recently installed apps or consider performing a factory reset. Since your touchscreen functioned as intended under special circumstances, a third-party app is most likely the root cause.

Many people apply a screen protector on their phones as an added safety against drops and scratches. But that same sheet of plastic or glass could prevent your touch signals from reaching the display panel.

If your phone"s screen has been acting up lately, try removing the protector. Of course, this doesn"t guarantee a fix. However, it could increase the response rate on an already weak screen.

Touchscreen Repair is a lightweight app that calibrates your screen to reduce response times. The app asks you to consecutively tap several sections of the touchscreen. Based on your phone"s internals, it then artificially drops the latency as much as possible.

The effectiveness of Touchscreen Repair varies depending on your phone maker. Many OEMs ship their phones with optimal response rates. In those scenarios, Touchscreen Repair won"t be able to do much. But it"s worth a try if nothing else has worked yet.

You don"t have to rely on touch inputs to control your phone. To better serve users with accessibility needs, voice and facial-based interaction methods for Android have come a long way.

With the right apps, you can navigate on your phone entirely through your voice and facial movements. Of course, these solutions only apply if your phone"s touchscreen works enough to install an app from the Play Store.

Else, you can try installing the app to your phone through the Play Store web interface. And you can disable touchscreen input on your phone until you get the screen fixed.

Google"s Voice Access app proactively listens for your commands and assigns a number to every action available on the screen. Instead of touching an app icon or menu element, you just have to call out the assigned digit.

Voice Access links fundamental actions to fixed phrases. So you can say "screen down" for moving around pages and "go back" to return to the previous screen, for example.

This app does exactly what its name suggests. It adds a virtual cursor on your screen, which you can manipulate with your face. To move the pointer, you simply have to move your head in the appropriate direction.

If you can"t install any apps due to screen problems, connecting an external keyboard and mouse might do the trick. This assumes you can still see the screen, though.

Controlling an Android phone with an external keyboard and mouse is mostly straightforward. All you need to do is find the right cable and plug the accessories in. Since your phone has one USB input, you will need a dongle to pair both of them.

It"s important to understand the difference between water-resistant and waterproof. A water accident can permanently damage your phone"s internals if you leave it on. Thus, in such scenarios, your best course of action is to shut down the device and wait for it to dry.

With these possible fixes, you should hopefully be able to revive your phone"s touchscreen if it"s just a software bug. Failing that, the apps mentioned can grant you a temporary workaround.

Otherwise, you will have to visit a service center for help. If you"re lucky, a professional will be able to restore the touchscreen"s functions, although depending on the device, it may be a pricey repair. If not, you"ll have to look at replacing your phone.

Your Android touch screen might not be working for various reasons. Hopefully, one of the fixes above helped solve your touch screen issues. If everything fails, perhaps it"s time to upgrade.

Strangely, the phone works just like usual. It still can receive calls, messages, chats or any notifications, but the screen is black/blank maybe that"s caused by some system problems/errors that affect the screen.

My phone (Samsung Galaxy E5) is not using extension batteries, so I can"t remove them because the batteries are sticks into the phone (like Apple iPhone batteries). I tried to restart the phone by holding the power button for a minute, but that doesn"t work.

I recently changed the screen on my iPhone with a 3rd party LCD screen as my old factory screen was severely cracked and displayed green all over. After I changed my screen with great care, I started encountering issues the same day where my phone would randomly turn off within minutes (and sometimes instantly) and wouldn’t turn on unless I plugged it in to charge, even though my battery was fully charged (for context, I replaced + calibrated my battery a week prior while using the original screen and encountered no problems).

I’ve noticed that sometimes, tapping it or setting it down will cause it to turn off. It will eventually turn itself off randomly, even if held in my hand or resting on a table, with the frequency increasing the more I turn it on and it dying until I leave it to rest. I double-checked all connections during the repair and tested the phone before reassembling to ensure everything works, with no issues. I had the battery unplugged while connecting the screen to ensure no discharge or damage. My first thought was the battery, but the battery is brand new and did not pose any symptoms or problems prior to me replacing the screen.

Why is this happening? I’ve heard some theories about components making direct contact with other parts of the phone’s internals which could cause problems. The screen I bought, while 3rd party and LCD, is from a reputable manufacturer (as far as 3rd party parts go), was bought brand new, and from a trustworthy seller. The screen is fully functional, so I’m less inclined to believe the screen is defective.
