OK so, as JR has said there seems to be an availability issue with the LCDs at present. They are around £87.50 usually. It boils down to the year of the car generally.

There"s a fella on the Fiat 500 Owners Club Facebook page called ChrisCRCFisher. He sells them for £150 which he will pre-set to roughly what your car is if you tell him the mileage. It will still need a proxy alignment as it"s a "foreign body" to the car. MultiECUScan will do this or Fiat will charge you £118. An independent about half of that. He needs to know mileage, year and the colour of the speedo ring (white, black or yellow).

I think at present that"s the best way of doing it due to the lack of available LCDs. What you could do of course, is if there was a high mileage one on eBay for the same year etc as your car, you could buy that and just nick the LCD out of it.

The reason yours isn"t working at all, asuming you haven"t broken it completely may be the backlight (the orange light). There is a small two pronged electrical connection that yu have to line up when you push the LCD panel back onto the body of the speedo. If they are not lined up properly then then orange backlight won"t work.

In 2020, Foxconn initiated MIH Alliance to create an open EV ecosystem that promotes collaboration in the mobility industry, with more than 2,200 companies joining the open standard since its launch. The company announced plans to become more involved as a contract assembler of EVs. In the same year, Foxconn partnered with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. and Yulon Group for a move into EVs. Foxconn has been holding the Hon Hai Tech Day (HHTD) event since 2020 to showcase its latest achievements. In HHTD21, Foxconn introduced for the first time three self-developed EV models: the Model C recreational vehicle, the Model E sedan, and the Model T electric bus.

In January 2019, Foxconn said it was reconsidering its initial plans to manufacture LCD screens at the Wisconsin plant, citing high labour costs in the United States.

The last of the first-gen Fiat 500e electric minicars left US dealerships in 2019. But it’s coming back in about a year with an updated style and an expected range of about 125 miles. That’s not a lot, but relatively consistent with a breed of small Euro-chic EVs like the Honda E, BMW i3, and Mini Cooper SE. Besides, small electric cars like the Fiat 500e might be the only segment that Tesla is ceding to the competition.

We’ll have confirmed details in early March when the new Fiat 500e debuts at the Geneva Motor Show. In the meantime, the media is speculating a boost power and an increase in range to about 125 miles.

Here’s where things get interesting. Fiat boss Olivier Francois told Autocar last month that the new electric 500 would sit on a new, bespoke electric-car platform. That platform could be shared by other small Fiat EVs, including a model inspired by the highly customizable, multi-pack Centoventi concept that we just saw at CES. It will also be used for a gas-hybrid 500 variant, which arrives first. (We’re showing images of that model on this post.)

In December, the UK’s Autocar caught the new 500e in testing, which revealed a re-worked dashboard with a larger infotainment screen and rotary gear selector. Other tweet-worthy spy images show a more angular front end.

2021 Fiat 500e spied testing in its production body for the very first time. The hatchback will feature an evolutionary design and it will ride on top of the company’s all-new dedicated EV platform. Additionally, it could have somewhere between 62 and 310 miles of electric range. pic.twitter.com/wFHEKRagP6

On this side of the pond, the new Mini Cooper SE and Fiat 500e carry sticker prices that are less than those found on a new Bolt or a Model 3. They are also arguably more stylish and easier to maneuver and park in crowded cities. The range for the three models is about 110 and 125, respectively, so consumers would have to be savvy about how much range they actually use.

Perhaps more importantly, Tesla is showing no signs of producing anything smaller or less expensive than a Model 3. Maybe that’s an opportunity for competitors, including Fiat. (And it would be a small consolation for the hundreds of millions or billions of euros FCA pays to Tesla in exchange for pooling EU emissions credits.)

What makes the returning 500e significant is that it’s the beginning of new FCA EV efforts. With all the announcements about FCA’s EV investments – a few billion here and a few billion there – it’s hard to pin down what it will mean for what you and I might drive.

In 2019, Fiat said it would invest nearly $800 million on the new 500e, including a new production line in Mirafiori, Italy. Fiat said it would make 80,000 units a year of the 500e, starting in the second quarter of 2020. Previous FCA announcements pegged the investment at more than $10 billion for a wide range of electrification efforts, including all-electric and plug-in hybrid versions of new Jeep models.

Meanwhile, in China (the largest EV market in the world), Fiat Chrysler announced last week that it’s teaming up with the manufacturing giant Foxconn to make electric cars. With the Foxconn plan, FCA/PSA has all the global bases covered.

If the Fiat 500e remains a compliance vehicle sold only in a couple of states, and FCA doesn’t deliver any other EVs, then it deserves ridicule. But if FCA, with Fiat and Jeep, combined with PSA, can deliver on the promise of its big investments, then we would proudly dart around town in its cute, Euro-chic electric car.

DETROIT, May 10 (Reuters) - A meeting of U.S. Fiat dealers to discuss future products, including the arrival of Alfa Romeo models, has twice been postponed and no new date has been set, several Fiat dealers said this week.

Some of the 204 U.S. Fiat dealers are struggling to turn a profit selling several versions of the Fiat 500 subcompact and some dealers said they anxiously await more details from Chrysler and its Italian parent, Fiat SpA, on plans to expand products beyond what has been already announced.

Fiat returned to the U.S. market in March 2011 with 40 dealers after a 16-year absence selling a single product, the two-door Fiat 500, largely known outside North America as the Cinquecento.

The Fiat brand’s return to the United States was not part of the bankruptcy deal. Fiat the corporate parent owns 61.5 percent of Chrysler and Marchionne hopes to buy the remaining shares and merge the two companies.

Gary Brown is the new chairman of the Chrysler Dealer Council. He owns a Fiat dealership on Long Island in New York, which sits 60 feet from his primary store, which sells the higher volume Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram Truck brands.

Brown says he has full faith that Marchionne and his executives will make Fiat dealers successful in the long run, but he is among those having a hard time selling only one style of car.

Brown said he is counting on the launch of the longer, four-door 500L this summer, which is expected to arrive at showrooms in June or July. A limited edition of a two-seat sports car called the 4C will be the first Alfa Romeo to hit the U.S. market late this year or in early 2014, but a higher-volume Alfa car is not expected until 2014.

“The real key is rolling out new product, additional offerings,” said Brown. “The four-door (500L) is really going to be a shot in the arm. It will put a franchise on more people’s radar as they are shopping for a small car.”

Brown and several other Fiat dealers said Chrysler officials did not inform them why a Fiat dealer meeting to be held at Chrysler’s headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan, on April 20 was postponed to May 20 only to have that one postponed as well.

One dealer who wished to remain anonymous assumes there is another delay in the schedule to bring Fiat’s sporty lineup from Alfa Romeo to the United States.

A Fiat spokesman declined to comment on the meetings, saying they are internal matters between the company and its dealers. He pointed to plans to introduce the bigger, four-door 500L this summer and for the first Alfa Romeo, a limited-edition two-seat sports car, the 4C, to arrive late this year or early 2014.

Three analysts, Libby, Alec Gutierrez of KBB and Kristen Andersson of TrueCar each said they think Fiat will be successful in the U.S. market and dealers who are not turning a profit now will be once the product lineup broadens.

Fiat vice president international operations Lorenzo Sistino said: “The 500 will have many versions and special series, in addition to the 100 ‘First Edition’ models. Next year we will be launching the 500C convertible and the exclusive ‘500 by Gucci’ special series.”

When it goes on sale in China, the Fiat 500 will cost from 190,000 RMB (£18,274). Customers who pre-order between 12 July to 15 September are then entered into a prize draw to win the special edition car at no extra cost.

Chinese market, as many people believe, is and will remain the biggest auto car market in the world. Unlike the European or the US market where the majority of car brands are local ones, Chinese market is unique because of its diversity, its great potential, and its amazing purchasing power. Fiat claimed the next decades will be the renaissance years compared to the situation in 1990s. By doing so, Fiat launched its new series Fiat 500 in China this year.

Fiat, the Italian automaker is quite slow to adapt to new market, especially the rapid growing Chinese market. Market report in China shows that Chinese prefer to consume products that the majority know with good feedback. This mentality is perfectly shown by the blindness rush for Gucci and LV bags for Chinese tourists overseas. According to IHS Automotive, Fiat sold less than 600 models of Fiat 500 in 2012 but it is expected to double the number this year. The cooperation of Gucci and Fiat made it the headlines of many media and it adds to its customer base from ordinary office people to fashionable young Chinese. The limited artistic edition with 1,4 liter, 101-horsepower MultiAir engine, quickly grabbed the public attention.

Nearly every new model of car drop the price after one year in China, but Fiat was really determine to keep the market share by 2% this year. Imagining the scale of the market, 2% means 400,000 cars, which is a huge number for any other market in the world. The price of this type of cars is estimated to be 15000 yuan cheaper than the other types. And of course, this new comer has a satisfying quality. In government accident tests, the Fiat 500 gained four out of five stars for general accident assurance, with four stars for aggregate frontal effect security and five stars for aggregate side-sway insurance, which is great in terms of cost/performance ratio.

Fiat claims a 19 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions versus a Fiat 500 1.2-litre (which is a seriously dated engine anyway), taking tailpipe greenhouse gas output down to 89g/km. That’s laudable – though it’ll increase when it’s tested on new WLTP rules.

Claimed economy, meanwhile, stands at 53mpg. Now, this is very obviously a town car, so Fiat launched it in a town. And after a morning spent ducking, dipping, diving and dodging though the automotive mayhem that is Bologna, the car claimed 41mpg. So in real money, we’re talking mid-to-high 30s to the gallon. Maybe a real-world 40, if you’re careful. And coast downhill a lot.

Here’s the rub. The 500 Hybrid is not notably more economical than a Ford Fiesta EcoBoost in the same conditions. Or a VW Up. Or, for that matter, the old 500 TwinAir two-cylinder, which never got close to the ridiculously optimistic claimed economy, but was at least fun to rag.

This new powertrain’s fine, but given how heavily Fiat is pushing the “Look Greta, it’s a HYBRID!” angle, the car’s actual performance is underwhelming. The meagre hybridification seems cynical.

Probably not. Last year FCA agreed to pay Tesla €1.8billion in carbon credits, to pool its range of cars emissions in with Tesla, which obviously has zero local emissions from its range of EVs. Nice little earner for Elon there. Meanwhile, Fiat-Chrysler avoided big fines in the US and Europe.

Your mileage may vary. The 500 Hybrid costs, appropriately, £500 more than a regular 500. Fiat says that, in the UK, the car will save owners £350 per year, what with the low-CO2 tax breaks and using less fuel. Of course, that depends on whether you can match Fiat’s official mpg. If you can’t, the 500 Hybrid might well not have paid for itself by the time your finance deal is up.

Absolutely right. And the 500 Hybrid is indeed good value, usefully clean and perpetually desirable. The driving position’s still a joke, the cabin plastics feel tinnier with every passing year, and the retro schtick has to count for a lot when there’s less space in the back than a VW Up, a sloppy manual gearbox and no modern driver assistance features.

It’s cootchie-coo loveable, though, so this ultra-diluted mild hybrid update will do the job for the rest of its life. That won’t be long.  There’s a new, all-electric 500 coming later this year, and this elderly version will be sold alongside it for a little while to ease the transition.
